Great Book

Would you listen to Home Buying for Dummies, Third Edition again? Why?

The book does a good job of explaining the basics of home buying in a chronological order that makes sense to the reader or listener. Highly recommended for those simply trying to understand how the process works.

It might be 1972

There is a lot of advice about looking up information in the phone book. Really?
Otherwise, it's good standard dummies fare: clear, simple. Because of state laws, however, there are an unfortunate number of instances of "here's the info, however it can be locale dependent, so do further research to determine the real story."

A must for experienced, or new home buyers!

they say that with an educational book, if you get at least one good nugget of information then it could easily pay for itself in just one sentence. This book has several of these "golden nuggets", that could easily pay for itself hundreds of times over!

Great book

Have the essentials of home buying and more. I feel more confident purchasing a home.

Good, but not great

It gives you phone numbers to call, checklist questions and financial equations to apply to your situation. It covers things throughly, but doesn't seem to cover everything that it could. While it wasn't as insightful and helpful as I had hoped, I don't feel it was a waste of money.

The first reader's voice is somewhat dry, while the second reader's voice is more tolerable.

Highly Recommended

This is a highly informative book on home buying. If you are thinking of buying a house or you know someone who wants to, this is the book they will thank you for

Dated, But Still Helpful

The performers inflection was a bit repetitive but you can only make it so interesting.

I bought a house, but used very little of what I learned from this book

There were a few good points I remembered in the book. Like buying the cheapest house on the street. It helped me set up expectations for everything involved with closing costs. In the end, I bought my first house and used almost nothing from this book. That’s a tell-tale sign the content here isn’t that useful.

I was hoping this would be more helpful

I suppose the caveat will always be "it's for 'Dummies'" but I found the information in here to be minimally helpful. I did learn something so I won't give it a negative review, but I think you'd benefit more from some google searches than you will from purchasing this book.
