Publisher's Summary

No matter where she looks, Jasmine Molina's life is hard: her mother passed away, her brother is fighting overseas, and all she has left in the world is a drunken gambling addict for a father, a man who steals her hard-earned tips every time there's a "sure thing" at the track. Behind in her tuition payments and the utility bills, the last thing Jasmine needs is a spoiled-brat rich kid making her life miserable.

Gage Kingsley and his gang of snotty fraternity brothers have painted a target on Jasmine's back, and they take special delight in picking on her daily. But when they show up at her house in the middle of the night to collect an overdue loan from her father, Gage and Jasmine's worlds truly collide.

There's only one way out...accept Gage's offer of marriage, or watch her father die.

Unbelievable From Beginning

Would you try another book from Ella Slade and/or Meghan Kelly?

Yes to Meghan Kelly, not so much to Ella Slade

Would you be willing to try another book from Ella Slade? Why or why not?

I am not sure. I did not get anything from this one. I always give each book that I listen to a chance.

Have you listened to any of Meghan Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened and this one is about the same.

Do you think Hitched to the Heir needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. it needs a complete rewrite.

Any additional comments?

I got this book via audiobook boom. This book was unbelievable from beginning to end. You know your father will steal and you come home and just lay your money on the dresser in plain sight. then you sleep with someone that you hate just because. So many other things that just did not make the story even remotely believable.

Jasmine and Cage

This is my first book by Ella Slade and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully more of her work will be on Audible. The characters were likeable. Meghan Kelly did a very good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Audio!

Great book~ I thought the writing was great~ The Narration and production was fabulous! The story was great once you got over being blackmailed into marriage~ It really didn't bother me as I loved seeing the love blossom between the two. Whether it started out fake or not- the love in the end was real. I thought it was great and would gladly read more from this author. As for narration, I am a big fan of Meghan Kelly's work. Production value is always high. She has an amazing voice and really does the books justice with the feeling she puts into her readings. Great job all around.

Unusual contemporary romance

The plot seemed interesting but some of the details made it quite Unbelievable. There seem to be little chemistry between Jasmine and Cage. She goes from disliking him to accepting to marry him because of a $3,000 debt! In my opinion, getting married does not really translate into being "responsible". There were a series of odd and unusual behavior. People don't usually get blackmailed by someone they dislike and seal the deal immediately by sleeping with them!

The narration was good and brought the story to life. Although, there was little emotion in the voices portrayed.

The conclusion was ok. I don't think the flow of events made sense to me but perhaps some people might think it does.

SADLY, UNDERDEVELOPED AND FOOLISH

Any additional comments?

"I received this audiobook for review consideration."

I'm not sure what to say... I don't like giving bad reviews. I wasn't impressed with the writing or flow. The plot could have been made into a better story with, I don't know, maybe angst, power, pain, challenge. Like, brutal debt collectors - hostage or slave for money - big brother fighting for kidnapped sister... or anything other than the pansy actions here. This totally missed the mark. In what world does knocking up a girl (albeit, after the fact) and marrying her translate to "responsible?" And in what world is a $3,000 debt large? And when does a guy introduce a girl, claim engagement and move her and her dog into his parents house, all in one day? Oh, the list goes on... but I won't.

Meghan did a good job with voice variations and inflections but there didn't seem much heart in the dialogues. No tempo change, just speech at a steady pace. I wouldn't have been able to muster much enthusiasm, either.

Sorry. Keeping my thumbs in my pockets.

Cute but Unrealistic

Ella Slade is a new author to me. Her story was cute, but unrealistic. It was a very nice listen and the narrator did a fantastic job. I found this story a fun diversion from life. The premise for the story is somewhat "Cinderella" and insta-love. There were some unexpected twists in this book which I enjoyed. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator. My review for 4 stars overall is because I found the story unrealistic, not because it wasn't enjoyable.

Cute

Any additional comments?

This audiobook was given to me for a honest unbiased review. This was a cute story. Not great but not bad either. An interesting take on a Cinderella (Rags to riches) story. Not really sure i liked the bulling part, marrying a bully usually means marrying an abuser. Although i do like that he redeems himself by the end.

Cute twist on a Cinderella story

After losing her mother, Jasmine's father turns to gambling to make ends meet, but it only ends in disaster. Gage loves to bully Jasmine in college, and when she discovers that he's actually her father's bookie he decides to make her an offer she can't refuse. I enjoyed watching the two main characters overcome trials and grow close throughout the story. Gage was a huge prick in the beginning, but redeems himself by the end. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life and I enjoyed listening to this story!

Review

This is a story that I think is most suited to a young adult audience. Though I feel it can be enjoyed by other age groups it is more geared to really young listeners. Maybe over 18 because it does have a lot of sexual content. Though I was happy to listen to it, there were things in the story that I felt were not really quite likely or believable. So I will say it is a fare story and worth reading, but not to my taste.
