The Reverend Joseph Julius Jackson was an African American preacher who published The History of the Black Man in 1921, a book which covers the history of the African people from Ethiopia and Egypt. Rev. Jackson believed that a lack of historical knowledge by the Afro American community about their past and origins has undermined their pride, and that a better knowledge of the contribution of the black man to civilization would ameliorate the situation. The work examines the early influence of African civilization upon the ancient history of the world, and looks at the black kingdoms of Sudan, Ghana, Melle, Songhay, and others. The Moorish dynasty of Spain is discussed, but the major part of the work is devoted to the history of the American negro from 1619 to the early part of the 20th century.

I feel good, and encouraged by what I have just heard of my race which could surely revolutionize the hearts and minds of young black kids ThIs information have been omitted from the history of our people. Imagine the difference it would have made to our generation. Also, the slaves that the Black man owned proved that his character was not one of a evil nature, but a character of a loving nature to help the slaves and their families with many blessings. The black slave owners did not have a evil nature towards his slaves, big difference than the white slave owners. Facts. The wealthy black slave owners were willing to give back to his slaves with love and kindness because his slaves were less fortunate. We are truly different. These facts in this book is indeed wonderful to know.

I loved this little book right here. I really appreciated the end where the writer placed an overpowering amount of positive uplifting information about my forefathers, my uncles, my cousins and my brothers that most people don't get to hear about. Thank you so much for this little book.
