Publisher's summary

When life gives you blood, make mayhem.

Grim. Assassin. Leather-clad sex god. Has the most unusual taste in men.
Misha. Mutilated. Afraid. Will never trust again.

Grim is a bloodthirsty killer, and he owns it. Gay in a world of outlaw bikers, he firmly stands his ground if anyone dares to cross him. He takes pleasure in showing homophobes their place and fucking his way through a life of carnage.

But there is a part of him always aching for something he cannot get. When by chance he saves the most perfect guy he’s ever met, he is not about to let him go. Even if it means he needs to smother his broken bird.

When a masked, bloodstained man rescues Misha from captivity, he doesn’t know if he should thank the menacing stranger or stab him and run. Grim is not the kind of man who takes no for an answer, and Misha might now be in more danger than when he was trapped as a sex slave.

Misha cannot deny though that Grim is as alluring as he is frightening, and once Misha realizes what power his body holds over Grim, he understands that taming the beast of a man could be within his reach.

But any possibility of a future together is like a house of cards when Zero, the sadistic crime lord who destroyed Misha’s life, sets out to get him back.

Will the ruthless biker assassin at Misha’s side be enough to conquer the monsters from his past?

This stand-alone novel is approximately 110,000 words.

Wow!!! Mischa and Grim

Talk about dark. This book was disturbingly so. But I loved every minute of it, even if some of it was cringe worthy. We first met Grim in book 3 or 4 I think. I thought he was such a butt in that book. Luca and Lucky had been excited to meet him and he'd tried to take advantage of Luca. I was not prepared to like Grim in this book. We thought Tooth was hardcore but Grim made Tooth seem more like the tooth fairy. I do love that throughout this series, they show how, even though the guys are gay, it doesn't stop them from being hardcore. In Luca's story, a rival club thought that since the Coffin & Nail's MC had a gay Vice Prez, they could take them down. Uhm. No.

In this book, Grim ended up being a lovable psychopath. I mean, Yes. His favorite color was blood. Mischa ended up being just as dark. He was also sharp and had a dark sense of humor that Grim seems to like. He was handicapped which was one of Grim's obsessions. Was Grim's love and devotion for Mischa because he was an amputee or did he actually love the man that Mischa was? You will need to read the book to find out.

It was a great listen and Wyatt did a good job. I thought I remember him having Grim's voice a little deeper when we first met Grim but this was okay, too. Mischa's accent was adorable.

So worth a credit if you can handle this kind of dark and violent m/m romance.

5 stars!

This story is fcked up, kinky, scary, disgusting and hot! And I loved it!
Definitely not for faint-hearted. Grimm's fetish is truly weird, but somehow the writer made it kind of understandable and something Grimm can't change.
This was my first time with this narrator. And definitely not the last! I loved his voice! Perfect narration for this book.

😳😳😳

My goodness, not what I was expecting at all! I have to admit, it's not really my thing but it was an...interesting listen to say the least! SPOILER for the fetish: I was wondering what would be so taboo, well, it's amputation. I like these authors and the story wasn't bad, but just not to my taste. Also they do a very good job of writing a narcissistic personality in Grim, who cannot perceive trauma in others and its unsettling 😬 I was looking for something different though, and I definitely got that!

Dark Winner!

This book is another dark winner for the Sex & Mayhem Series! This time, Grim, who we meet in previous books, gets his story. Grim is a dark man, an assassin, And he is not afraid of who he is. Misha, a sex slave that has more than just emotional scars, gets rescued by Grim. Misha is absolutely everything Grim wants, but is he willing to trust again?
This book is one that is unapologicly dark! But with that darkness, there is still a story of redemption, hope and love. The characters are written in a way that they are not afraid to be who they are, even if that is a hardened assassin or a scarred amputee.
The narration is absolutely perfect in bringing these characters to life. Misha's especially gives the character a uniqueness that brings out the emotions behind his words. This book is not one to miss, especially if you have enjoyed the series before - this series keeps getting better!

Raw. Gritty. Intense.

In His Favorite Color is Blood, K.A. Merikan explores a kink that isn't frequently talk or/and written about as it's considered a fetish and taboo. The way it was done was both interesting and loving .

Grim and Misha are two fierce yet vulnerable and lonely heroes. Their coupling makes them stronger. Their love makes them whole.

Wyatt Baker delivered a fantastic performance.

Loved everything about it!!

This is one of my favorite books by these authors and no one could have given it life better than Wyatt Baker (he's for sure one of my fave narrators). The story is so dark but full of love at the same time, a love that will make you probably uncomfortable at the beginning, but after you start to know Grim and Misha more deeply, you can't help but understand that the two are destined to be together, just perfect for each others. But they will need to fight for their love, they will need to face their past and find the courage to survive the horrors that life has reserved for them.

His Favorite Color is Blood

My Favorite Color is Blood was the one Book in this series I was most nervous to read. I remember Grim being mentioned in previous books of the series and I was a bit hesitant knowing this was his book and wondering what we would get with him.

I ended up skipping past reading the book and went right into listening to the audio version and I am so glad I did. This audiobook was really great. I think that Wyatt Baker captured not only Grim’s gruffness, but he was also able to portray Misha’s voice, personality and accent perfectly. This audio was definitely enjoyable and I really liked the entire book as well pretty much from the start and right through to the end.

Misha had such a big personality for having gone through so much in his short life. When starting this book I literally had no clue how much he actually went through to become who he was, it was eye opening. He had so much life and snark in him even after everything. The darkness he feels inside hasn’t taken over and surpassed the light in him. He is also pretty brilliant and funny too and I really didn’t expect to love him as much as I did. I think a good part of my feelings for Misha had to do with the narration we got though and how the narrator presented him to us too. Without that added extra I’m not sure my feelings for him would be as strong. But man, he was such an interesting character.

Grims’ fetish was not really my thing going into this book, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from him. Even an hour into the book I was still wondering where this story would take us. But what I thought to be a little odd in terms of how the two started out together and how their relationship evolved was made into something so much more. Once the two of them formed their bond and learned it was ok to trust each other, these two guys were Smoking Hot together. I felt like Grim was literally made for Misha. He was made to find him and save him and take care of him the way he deserved even when his motives and inner thoughts and turmoil were a little unconventional. Grim is the definitely the most lovable Psychopath I’ve encountered so far. Lol. This book was fascinating and I would definitely recommend that if you liked any of the other books in this series you should really read and/or listen to this one too.

Narrator Note: I’ve listened to other (older, the first few) narrations from Wyatt Baker and I really feel I need to add in a note about how much he has improved as a narrator overall from the first book he narrated in this M/M genre till now with this book. You can tell the difference and if he keeps improving the way he has, he will definitely move up as one of my favorites.

Bloody Fantastic!

This is book 8 in the Sex and Mayhem series and can be listened to as a standalone as well.

Grim and Misha are from different worlds and opposites in every way but when they come together they are two missing pieces who become a whole.

The characters were raw, real and relatable.

The storyline was explicit, engaging and gritty.

Wyatt Baker performs a commendable audio delivery and narration.

This was an enjoyable listen overall.

Misha and Grim, what a story.

Grim a killer sex god, a nomad who worked with the Coffins Nails MC

Misha, a Russian captive, mutilated, abused and a sex slave. Shy about his body.

This book is as dark or darker as the rest. There are killings, torture, mutilation and much more.

Still a great series. I have been listening to them out of order, and it doesn't actually spoil the series.

Narration from Wyatt baker was smooth and easy to listen to, although like usual, I did speed it up slightly to 1.40

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

An absolutely wild ride - not for the squeamish!

I’ve read a couple of books recently about a cannibal who helps the police out solving murders in exchange for fresh bodies - I found this book more unsettling than those! Grim, a murderous biker with a fetish for amputees rescues Misha, a young Russian guy who has had both legs removed during torture. I take my hat off to the authors, they really committed to the incongruous romance as well as the squeamish detail. This was not my cup of tea so I won’t seek out further books by them, but the strangely sympathetic characters were well-formed and the story utterly gripping. 🎧 Wyatt Baker’s character voices, including Misha’s Russian accent, and his narrative performance were impressive.

Grim...

Grim, the nomad biker of the Coffin Nails MC has rescued a Russian boy. He was aged like a bird, abuse by his captor and sold on the internet. He’s maimed and Grim has a thing for them. It’s a dark and very gritty theme but also with lots of care and love from a man that loves the smell of blood. Misha is broken and has not known love all his life. I can not imagine what pain he has gone through. The trust will have to be built with time and showing him he can have a better life. I just loved Grim for that and his fierce protectiveness.
Great narration too. Very deep and masculine and yet soft when needed.

Fantastically dark!

Buckle up and put your grown up pants on, this book is not for the faint hearted. If you’re a sensitive soul, read and be aware of the Warning.

I loved this book, I read it before I listened and the narration turned it into a solid five star for me. It’s dark and violent but funny at times. Grim is one of my favourite Psycos ever!

Wyatt Baker is a great narrator and bought these characters to life in a proper creepy way! I’d advise stepping out of your comfort zone and giving this a try....you won’t be sorry.

Oh wow! Definitely good, definitely dark!

In trying to broaden my horizons, I decided to try my first dark story. It's quite good :)
Although this is part of a series, (and I haven't read/listened to any of the other stories), this is can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Grim is a not a psychopath to be trifled with, except if you're Mischa. Both men were made for each other and woe to anyone who stands in the way of them stying together! The story is intense with violence, kink, dark humour, but has love and passion. It is really not a pretty romance (the warnings are not for fun), but is very good.
Wyatt Baker did a really great job with the 2 MC's voices - Grim was sounded very growly (and sexy); Mischa sounded Russian. He really captured the dark tone of the story very well.

My favourite of these authours

This is one of my favourite books, which I have read many times, so when it came to Audible I knew I had to have it, it's dark gritty and so good, Grim just ticked all my boxes, protector of Misha, he also shows him how to be himself. What Baker has once again shown his take on this book with his deep voice. Really outstanding. Oh if you enjoy these ladies books this is a must have.
