Publisher's summary

Levi McCoy took me under his wing when we were kids. He was my protector. My best friend. My everything.

And I was sidekick.

We stayed close, even when relationships and life in general tried to tear us apart.

Years later, he landed an internship at Montague Enterprises, competing with my childhood nemesis, Conner Daniels, for the final coveted position.

That's when things got messy.

The two bargained for the official job offer, using me as their pawn.

And I fell for it. The scheming. The stolen kisses. The late-night texts. My heart was being torn in two, and neither one of them cared.

All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn't see coming. Hell, it should've never started in the first place.

Friends to lovers...

3.5 Stars!
Friends to Lovers romance!
Charlie and Levi are childhood friends. Charlie is a tom-boy with a boys name so she had her share of bullying. Levi made it his duty to protect her from the bullying and any potential suitors. As adults Charlie has developed and has not idea of her beauty. I like Charlie was innocent and naive. I thought that the emotions and drama was appropriate for the book. The book makes you curious about Rae's other books. Overall good story!

Young Adult story

I did not expect this young of a story from this series.
i would have a 14 year old listen/read this.
I believe that is the audience for this genre.

Fantastic Novel

I don't get where the title comes from, that part doesn't make sense. It was a great romance of two kids who grew up together and of course it's the girl who's unrequited love is front and center. It takes some scheming to wake him up but not before a plan is put into motion to ruin everything he ever wanted.

Good Story but subpar narration

I liked the story line but the narration was a little painful. The female narrator sounds way to young and a little monotone. The male narrator sounds creepy.

It was Meh...

Only listen if you have no other options. If you can watch water drip that would be better. The story was not complex or original. I actually sped the book up to get to the end. I didn't care for the narrator's voices. I was excited when I got to the end because it was OVER! The story had no depth, it was basically Girl and Boy are best friends, girl loves boy, boy is naive to this fact. They grow up. Girl is unaware of her beauty, Boy does something stupid then starts noticing girl. Yadda yadda, yadda HEA. I
