Acerca de esta escucha
The Timberline Trail is an iconic hiking trail circumnavigating Mount Hood in Northern Oregon. Packed with incredible scenery, the journey cuts through gorgeous forests, across volcanic terrain, through glacier-carved canyons and ice-cold stream crossings, along alpine meadows, and under thundering waterfalls while providing unprecedented views of Mount Hood and the surrounding Cascade Range volcanic peaks.
This is the story of a four-day backpacking trip on the Timberline—the day-to-day experience, the highs and the lows, and the awe-inspiring beauty. An account of all 42 miles of this amazing, epic trail that will test you, humble you, and make you feel alive. The book includes hiking tips and backpacking lessons and stories from other mountains and hikes in the Western United States, including the Pacific Crest Trail and San Jacinto Peak.

Historia
The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America - majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

Historia
In 2003, software engineer David Miller left his job, family, and friends to hike 2,172 miles of the Appalachian Trail. AWOL on the Appalachian Trail is Miller’s account of this thru-hike from Georgia to Maine. Listeners are treated to rich descriptions of the Appalachian Mountains, the isolation and reverie, the inspiration that fueled his quest, and the rewards of taking a less conventional path through life. While this book abounds with introspection and perseverance, it also provides useful passages about hiking gear and planning.

This is a terrific audiobook. It's interesting, well-written, and timely. It's the story of a textbook editor who retires, reads the popular book The Wild Effect and decides to hike the Appalachian Trail - and have an unexpected adventure! The tone is wry humor, tongue in cheek - the author has a great sense of humor, is perky, and as she learns in this adventure, is often in over her head! She is a very likeable character.

Nice Hiking read
Great to get some information about hiking around Mt. Hood. On my bucket list. Sometimes gets a little too detailed and you want it to just move on, but overall very enjoyable account of one man’s journey.

Must Read (even if you are not hiker)
As my headline states, I am not a hiker in any sense of the word. What I am though is someone who loves to listen to others stories and experiences, which is what this author does. Alex "Sherwood" Theis, masterfully tells his four day adventure on the Timberline Trail with the use of humor, inspiration and honesty. He provides tips and motivation to inspire others to get up and accomplish their goals, whether it is to hike the Timberline Trail or start a new adventure whatever that may be!

READ THIS BOOK! All Timberline Trail Backpackers
Alex Theis humbly and masterfully shares the kind of essential hard-earned knowledge and well-lived experiences anyone backpack wisdom any Timberline Trail backpacker treasures.
Whether you're a novice or seasoned backpacker, the author covers nuanced tips and hacks one needs to successfully brave this often-dangerous trek around Mount Hood.
More than just practical, though, Alex's writing style and pace weave the essential backpacking information together through par excellence storytelling. His descriptions of the terrain and inner-experiences takes me with him into the beauty, and majesty of the experience.
The thing that helped me the most, however, was his humility. It was refreshing. His struggles with the inner-game seem much like mind would be. He generously transforms his many mistakes and emotional struggles along the way into memorable nuggets of golden wisdom. In so going, he helps me best prepare for the hardest part of this (and any) significant undertaking—the realm of the emotional, mindset, and physical fortitude.
