I love all these stories. Takes me away to imagine peeking into their lives. JJ is an amazing detailed writer! She’s amazing.

Unique Story

Usually I can tell where the story is leading - I was pleasantly surprised at the chain of events in this story!

Loved it, but…

Too short! Roland is my new favorite highland husband. He is absolutely swoon worthy! Loved how the couple came together without too much angst. Narrator, Tim Campbell is the best! His voice is so very sexy! I’m disappointed that the story was a bit short but worth a credit! Loved this series!!!!

Excellent Story BUT…

Way too short. The plot had all the feels, action, intrigue, angst, super swoon inducing hero, strong minded heroine, even 2 lovesick side characters to make for a superb addition to the MacLeod series but it just wrapped up way too quickly. The mystery was solved, punishments rendered, justice served, a battle won, implied virginity lost, and a HEA all within the last 45 minutes! It could’ve/should’ve taken each of those plot lines a couple of chapters each instead of feeling like the author had bumped back her deadline one too many times.

I would’ve asked for my credit back if not for Tim Campbell’s narration. I have missed his brilliance and just purchased 3 more of his narrated historical romances. I’m pretty sure I own them all now.

Loved the story but….

Julie Johnstone is one of my absolute favorites. Her stories always send me reeling. The MCs are perfect for each other and Julie wrote them beautifully. I so waited for the HEA and it did come but for all that which was so well written the ending was rushed and left me wanting for explanations that never came. It was sadly left out. So the beginning, the middle was so well written in depth that I was quite surprised to find that the ending was not. I absolutely will not take away from Julie’s work because she deserves loyalty which I have for this wonderful author. Now on for the narrator. Tim Campbell is my most favorite ever and I have a lot of experience with audio books. As of this date in August 2025 I have 142 audio books! Hey now, after all I am retired;) No one can do the perfect highland brogue and a woman’s to perfection.
