Very well narrated but

The plot is ridiculous, and the best thing you can say about the writing is that it is stiff and not imaginative.

excellent!

as always the narration is extremely fantastic. I love the narrator for all Iris's books. she has an incredible variety of voices. I always know who is talking. The story is fantastic. I wish Iris could write more but the quality would suffer. so keep on writing. Bravo!

Mystery? NO, thriller? NO, Suspenseful? NO.

Soap Opera is the best to describe this book. No consistency in the characters or believability in the dialogue. A minor complaint, if the heroin was born and raised in nowhere Russia and the maie Russian characters all have Russian accents, why doesn't she have one???? Also, how does she know what an American Country Club look like??? Lastly, how often in a book can someone use the phrase "look ruefully" ?? All in all the book should not be in the category of Mystery, thriller, suspense, crime, it seems to fit the Soap Opera category if there is such a category.

Lame

I don’t know why I listened to the whole thing, it was entirely predictable and dull. It’s one of those books that thinks it’s a a screenplay for an action movie, but would never sell. Handsome, rich gambler meets beautiful oppressed Russian girl, who happens to be a world class pianist, steals her away from her sadistic patron, then they fight off the gangster and his minions together. Ridiculous dialog, no suspense at all, unbelievable characters. Don’t waste your time or money

Don't waste your money

Terrible. Don't waste your money. The plot is so poorly done it's embarrassing. I only made it part way into the book hoping it was going to get better but it just didn't.

Ridiculous but fun

This was a fun escapist story. I was sucked in and wanted to see what would happen next. I thought the narration was quite good, but near the end I was almost crying with laughter at the narrator's "Blam" and "rat-a-tat-tat" gunfire. I know that the narrator had to read what was written, but the inflection on the gunshots were cartoonish and made me think of classic Batman action scenes.
