Well known serial killers such as Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and BTK were all motivated by power, sexuality, and brutality. These types of murders often receive widespread publicity, and create a sense of fear due to their nonsensical, motiveless, and random nature. At some point in the killer’s life, their sexual urges and arousal become intertwined with sadism – taking sexual pleasure from their victim’s fear, humiliation, physical, and emotional pain. The obsession often takes root during the adolescent years, around eleven or twelve years old, and it becomes a fantasy that is played over in the sadist’s mind.

Serial sexual homicide is a rare and disturbing form of serial killing often plagued with a specific pattern – multiple victims, sexual motivation, pattern of behavior, psychological factors, and being a high risk to society. This book will delve into the disturbing crimes committed by three disturbed men and shed light on the unsettling and heinous acts that led them to murder.

Herbert Baumeister, Albert Fish, and Robert Berdella were three men driven by powerful sexual forces and extreme criminal behavior. Their motivations were complex and often intertwined with psychological disorders and unique life experiences – family, background, relationships, education, career, and remarkable life events. Herbert Baumeiester targeted gay men and lured them to his upscale, million-dollar estate called Fox Hollow Farms. His motivations appeared to be a mix of sexual compulsion and a desire to live a normal life filled with stability, good relationships, and a balanced routine. Albert Fish was a cannibal and child rapist in the early twentieth century. His crimes were driven by extreme sadism and a perverse desire to inflict pain and suffering on his victims. Robert Berdella, also known as “The Kansas City Butcher,” targeted young men in the 1980s. He enjoyed torturing, raping, and killing his victims due to a strong desire for control and a motivation for sexual sadism to force physical pain and humiliation on his victims.

Interesting but……..

A short book on sexually motivated serial killers. This seems like an AI generated thing from beginning to end from typical references to books or the diction . To the voice that tends to slip up here and there. All in all information be t not t much more. Did however learn on what character Dexter was based

Some minor errors

I know from the Albert fish section There’s some minor inaccuracies. For example it says fish hung a boy from a tree but in reality the boy was choked on the ground and the straps from his overalls embedded in his neck which the coroner believed meant the killer had to be a younger man and threw off the investigation, there was no time to hang a child as fish heard someone coming and fled. Also the needles inserted into fishes pelvic area did not interfere with the electrocution and fish suggested that to delay his death which he fought against the entire time. Fish did not attempt suicide but carved a cross into his chest using chicken bones for pleasure and possibly to boost his insanity case , investigators believed fish may have exaggerated the role religion played to gain an insanity defense

There’s more but you get the idea. Little details. In the final case covered ,the book states the victim with dog collar and chain attached to his neck made it to a neighbors who called the cops. The book states despite the torture marks the cops concluded it was just a jilted homosexual lover … there’s not a shred of evidence to support that statement and the book acknowledges they immediately arrested his attacker, got a warrant and searched every inch of the home putting the killer away for life. I’m aware of that occurring in dahmers case but not here. It’s that creative license where they make assumptions based on bias like “well you know how cops were in the 80’s “ that leads it astray still a good listen

Interesting book on sexually motivated murders

The story was well written, and it was very informative. The only thing that I did not like was that the narrator was AI, so there was no emotion and this book talked about some very dark subjects and the narrator read it with zero emotion like they were talking about a day at the beach, so it was kinda hard to listen to

AI Narration Ruins the Story

I am familiar with the story of Herb Baumeister and looked forward to a fresh perspective.. Unfortunately, the AI narration is intolerable. The bot pronounces “Herb” as “Erb” as though he was an herb from the garden. This is unforgivable. Further, if the text repeats itself in several places.

Overall, this is a slick shot effort of a compelling case. But listener and reader deserve better. Who edited this audiobook?
