Jimmy Deloatch is awakened to an early morning phone call with news that a life-long friend, Terry Lynn, has just passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. During Jimmy’s agonizing struggle to fulfill his friend’s dying wish of speaking at his funeral, Terry comes back to him in his dreams, reliving and revealing some of the most significant moments of their lives; from the first day they met at five years old, to the very last time Jimmy saw Terry alive, just a few months before his death. Jimmy finds himself unable to cope with the glut of new memories swimming through his head, many not seen or heard in over 30 years, opening up a whole new world of pain.
