Publisher's Summary

After her philandering husband's boat went down, newly single Mia Carina went back to Astoria, the bustling Queens neighborhood of her youth. Living with her nonna and her oversized cat, Doorstop, she's got a whole new life - including some amateur sleuthing...

Mia is starting work at Belle View, her father's catering hall, a popular spot for weddings, office parties, and more - despite the planes that occasionally roar overhead on their way to LaGuardia and rattle the crystal chandelier. Soon she's planning a bachelor party for a less-than-gentlemanly groom. But it goes awry when the gigantic cake is wheeled in and a deadly surprise is revealed...

Since some of her family's associates are on the shady side, the NYPD wastes no time in casting suspicion on Mia's father. Now, Mia's going to have to use all her street smarts to keep him out of Rikers Island...

WHAT A GREAT NEW SERIES

WHERE DO I BEGIN? A FATHER WHO IS MOBBED UP, A BROTHER IN A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, A MOB BOSS AS A REAL GODFATHER. NONE OF THIS SOUNDS COZY, BUT IT IS. IT WORKS. THE CHARACTERS ARE UNIQUE AND STEREOTYPICAL, AT THE SAME TIME, AND THAT IS A GOOD THING. I LOVE THEM ALL, EVEN DONNY, SR., AND I DON'T THINK I SHOULD LOVE DONNY, BUT I DO. THE NARRATOR DID A WONDERFUL JOB. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

Catering Hall Mystery series....#1

Enjoyed this first in a series. The Italian ,Mob lite ambiance was fun and reminded me of a childhood friend's family, especially the grandparents. Nice memories.
The mystery itself was good even though the murderer did turn out to be one of my guesses. I listened to an Audible book and liked the Narrator.

Giuseppe from Brooklyn

This is a laugh out loud story that brought back memories of my 40’s-50’s Brooklyn boyhood with gusto down to the completely accurate accents. That the venue was Queens matters not. A great listen.

Hope there are more! Hooked after the first chapter and the narrator is wonderful. Treat yourself to a fun read.
