Publisher's Summary

Cedric, Viscount Sheridan, is cursed. Once the ton's golden boy, the loss of his sight has left him a reclusive shell of man, his days of womanizing, horse racing, and pistol shooting lost forever. Offered the chance to recapture a small part of his old life, he can't refuse - even if it means accepting the shocking proposal of the infamous ice maiden Anne Chessley.

Still reeling from her father's death, Anne's deepest wish is to avoid the hordes of fortune hunters who will soon be beating down her door. Proposing marriage to Cedric is an act of desperation, his unexpected acceptance a strange and wonderful dream. His only stipulation: She must respond passionately and wantonly in his bed. Her agreement barely crosses her lips before he begins a sensual assault on the icy walls bitter secrets have built around her heart. Yet even as they catch a glimpse of true happiness, betrayal is poised to sweep them away on opposing tides of danger.

More than Disappointed

Very disappointed with this book. I had been looking forward to it because the story line in the beginning of the book held great promise and originality. Then the inconsistencies of the characters began. Both the hero and the heroine became unrecognizable compared to their descriptions in the beginning of the book. Also the author felt compelled to write in her intros for two other books and include all the characters from her other books. Too crowded, sometimes I thought we were starting another book entirely. Both the hero and heroine were wusses.

Depressing that I paid for this audiobook. When I got to three hours to the end I decided to listen so I could write this review. I do not normally write negative reviews.

A Merging of Characters

Let me start by saying that I have read both of the League of Rogues books that precede this and have been noticing the same trend in Ms. Smith's writing: The characters all seem to meld together. In the first book, they all seemed to have a different personality and interest/area of expertise. But with Lucien and Horatia and then again, with this book, with Cedric and Anne, they are nearly the same as Godric and Emily. They react the same. They use the same phrases. The women swoon the same way at the kisses. I will say that this book has done a better job of forwarding the story with the enemy. Also, how Cedric responds to his blindness (mood swings, depression, anger) was pretty good, probably could have done more to flesh that story line out a bit better.

Now, my issues with the plot. Anne's "accident". I'm sorry, but that seemed a bit of a cop out. The story had been set up from the beginning to have Anne pull Cedric back from his hopelessness, but obliterates that more promising story line to make Cedric the main "savior." Sorry, no. Having Anne and Cedric work to get to know each other, to have her help him when he's at his darkest and most obstinate would have made the romance work so much better than what given.

I will commend the story line apart from the romance. It was intense and riveting, but short. A bit more cruelty on the villain's part would have not gone amiss. Overall, I think that the book is worth at least one read and look forward to more of Ms. Smith's works.

I DON'T LIKE STORIES ABOUT RAPE!!

The Heroine was raped at age 18. I thought this was a romance story about Viscount Sheridan after he was blinded in bk2. I had not idea that the heroine Anne Chissley had be raped!! Sorry I don't think is anything romantic about a rape victim. The narration was just okay!!

Best in the series thus far...

I have listened to the first two books in this series and enjoyed them. However I also felt they were a bit long. I was not sure what to expect with this book as the reviews were not that positive. I am pleased to say that this was my favorite in the series. I enjoyed the storyline and the theme of love overcoming obstacles that life gives us.

A new fan

This is the first time I have purchased Lauren Smith. It was through the romance package. But now I am hooked. The stories have great characters and the performance is wonderful. Worth it and can’t wait to hear the entire series

Love Cedric

What made the experience of listening to Her Wicked Proposal the most enjoyable?

The knowledge of the characters in the previous books in the series. You want to know what happens next. You know they will have to deal with their enemy and you don't know how they will be attacked.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Her Wicked Proposal?

When Anne approached Cedric in the garden and realized he had fallen and hurt himself. Your heart goes out to Cedric and you can appreciate Anne's sympathy. I felt so sad for Cedric when he was at the dinner table and spilt the wine. He was so embarrassed.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narration is just alright. Sometime you can't distinguish between the characters, male or female.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Overall the series so far is very good. When the Rogues and their wives come together and socialize and tease each other, you can see it in your mind's eye. I like the way Jonathan's characters is being developed. I also enjoy the ongoing relationships between the other men and their wives e.g. the passion between Godric and Emily continues, I like that. Also I can't wait to find out what happens to Hugo Waverly.

Too Scattered

I'm usually a fan of the Rogue Series, but this book had too many stories. with too much detail going on at the same time. At the beginning everything was great. Then a few chapters in other storyline were introduced. That's not usually a problem but it was difficult to figure out how they were connected to the main story.
