Such a sweet story!

I really liked this story, as I have all the rest of the books in the series. I think my rating would have been one star higher with either a different narrator, or the Kindle version as opposed to the Audible edition I listened to, narrated by Diane Lehman. The story is really sweet and exciting filled with adventure, (clean) romance, and mystery. It is very positive and uplifting. The narrator's charcter voices sometimes grate on my nerves, especially Mr. Witherby. The voices for the minor characters come across as over-the-top. The voice for Rick, while not irritating, seems almost too "smooth," for lack of a better word. Despite all of that, it really is an enjoyable story. I look forward to the next mystery, and if you like clean romance and mystery, this book is a great choice.

A lovely story. One of my favourites of the series

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the story line to Amelia's latest mystery. It is a really sweet story about a woman looking to be reunited with her childhood sweetheart.
I liked how the author kept us guessing about what happened to the man in question and whether or not it would lead to the happy ever after that everyone was hoping for. Rick was the voice of caution.
Amelia and Rick's relationship also progresses in a happy direction. I have enjoyed their burgeoning romance and it adds a lovely subplot to the whole series.
I also loved the comedic elements in the story especially the incident of Amelia's kidnapping.
Hugely entertaining and highly recommended.

Intriguing from the start

I loved the premise from the beginning. The idea of looking for a long lost love intrigued me. I've listened to all of the books in this series and the reader gets better and better with each character as the books go by. This one was my favorite in the series tjoigh I've enjoyed them all. I like how the author left the relationship at the end of the book. Can't wait for more Moore!

My Favorite So Far

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this audiobook to a friend. It was well written and the story was fresh. I have grown to love the missing person mysteries! The story had a wonderful pace. I also enjoyed how it played to my romantic side without it being overdone. I found it thoroughly entertaining. I love stories that end well (and this one did). But I wasn't positively sure it was going to, which was also fun. The author had intrigue throughout the whole book, and it had enough mystery to keep me wondering and guessing but not frustrated. I think this book 5 is my favorite in the series so far (but definitely read them in order). Thank you Linda Clarke for another great story.

A romantic mystery

What can a detective agency do best? Track down long lost loves! This is a warm-hearted, fun adventure for Rick and Amelia. Amelia is asked to find a prominent lawyer's high school sweetheart. He has been gone for 24 years, and with few leads, Amelia is left to read old love letters. With Rick's help, these two take a trip to Southern Utah to search out old college friends and hope to find the answers they seek. Through this trip, Rick and Amelia's relationship continues to grow, the romance factor high and a surprise in the end is eminent! I love these cozy mysteries, they are just the right mix of light humor and suspense, and Linda Weaver Clarke masterfully threads some romance through it. Rick is incredibly warm, patient and romantic as well as being intuitive when sleuthing. Amelia is smart, and at times runs with emotion on this case. The two together make a remarkable team as they search, are followed and meet some interesting people along the way.

The continued narration by Diane Lehman is very pleasurable. I love her pace, and find her voice to be perfect for the story. She has a lightness in her portrayal that gives the cozy a fun sound, and gives off just enough humor and emotion to make it a very entertaining listen.

Can't Get Enough Amelia Moore!

Any additional comments?

There's a lot to be said about an author who can create an entire series of cozy mysteries and still delight and surprise her readers with each new book. I'm thrilled to say Linda Weaver Clarke is one of those authors, and her Amelia Moore Detective Series just keeps getting better and better.

The fifth book in the series, "Her Lost Love" is a wonderful blend of romance, mystery, travel and suspense. The series features Amelia and her partner, Rick Bonito, who run a detective agency that specializes in locating missing persons.

In this book, a former classmate of Amelia's enlists her help in finding her childhood sweetheart who disappeared years earlier. The setting is in Utah and Arizona, which the author describes beautifully. The narration by Diane Lehman was impeccable; she has a real handle on what the author is projecting through her characters. The romance between Amelia and Rick progresses naturally and very credibly. The author's dialogue is fantastic and realistic.

I love long-lost love stories, cozy, clean mysteries, happy endings and most of all, well-written books. If you like these - or any of these, too, you will love "Her Lost Love". What a great find!

I highly recommend this fine audio book, which I received in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect

I've been waiting for this story! I've been dying to know where things would go with the main characters.
I admit I was more engrossed in their story than the mystery in this book, but the case is what gave them the chance to grow closer so that made me happy.
Great performance, as always, and I'm excited for the next book to see what happens!

Loved it!

This was one of my favorite books in this series to read so I was excited to listen to it. I love long-lost love stories so was interested to see how this one would end. Rick and Amelia don't have to travel very far for this case but I still enjoyed their travels. They are adorable together and their relationship continues to grow. I'm not crazy about the narrator's portrayal of Rick but that doesn't get in the way of my enjoyment of their story. This is a fun series to either listen to or read!

Perfectly-paced, intriguing cozy mystery!

Would you listen to Her Lost Love again? Why?

Yes, I would. Her Lost Love is a very good mystery adventure set amidst picturesque scenery with a strong romantic element. Besides the story, I also enjoyed 'adventuring' with the couple as they visited Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park... learned about toads... and much more. I had visited Zion years ago and this book let me relive so many fond memories.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rick Bonito was my favorite character. He's so patient, honorable, smart and tender. He's a sweetheart. If Amelia doesn't want him, I do!!!!!

He's very romantic... sigh...and he makes me laugh.

“Romantic?” he teased. “Of course, I wouldn’t be interested in something like that. Is that what you think?” He winked at her. “After all, I’m just a guy. Men wouldn’t be interested in a bit of romance. Right?”

Which scene was your favorite?

This series also serves as a fun travel diary. After I finish each of these books, I feel that I’ve ‘adventured’ the areas they visited too thanks to the author’s vivid imagery. Don’t you love it when education is entertaining? In the past, the couple has traipsed through Bali, Ireland, Mexico and the American West taking drooling readers along for the ride. In Her Lost Love, we get to visit northern Arizona and southern Utah. One of my favorite both photographic and tender scenes takes place at Snow Canyon State Park as the couple evening-hiked the Petrified Dunes Trail and star-gazed. The dunes are painted the brightest red coral. While stargazing, Rick points out the Big and Little Dippers, the Milky Way and Orion. Here’s a short snippet from that memorable excursion:

Hmmm,” hummed Rick. “Now isn’t this pleasant?” With a sigh, he softly said, “’Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.’”
“That’s beautiful,” whispered Amelia as if not wanting to ruin the pleasant mood he had just created.
“Henry Wadsworth Longfellow…
“Have you ever heard of the constellation: Berenice’s Hair?”…
“It’s named after an Egyptian queen. Berenice and Ptolemy were newlyweds when he went off to war. She was worried about him so she made a deal with the goddess of love to protect her husband. In order to save his life, Berenice was supposed to cut off her long golden hair, which she was very proud of. She felt it was her crowning glory, but she was willing to sacrifice anything for the man she loved. The goddess was so pleased with her newly acquired treasure that she took it up to heaven.”

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Rick and Amelia's adventure in Color Country!

Any additional comments?

Her Lost Love is the fifth installment in Linda Weaver-Clarke’s Amelia Moore Detective Agency cozy mystery series. As with the previous books, Her Lost Love is sweet and clean. There’s no hanky panky other than a few chaste kisses. Even so, I found Her Lost Love to be the most romantic installment of this series and my favorite-to-date.

Diane Lehman continues as the talented narrator of this series. She has an amazing voice excellently balancing pacing, sound and characterization. Her voice is extremely clear and she differentiates between the characters to where I have no problem knowing who is speaking at any one time. Her characters also sound realistic. She's quite versatile, too, as throughout the series she's voiced multiple accents and sang in different genuine-sounding voices. I look forward to hearing more of her performances in the future.

Fantastic!

From picturesque scenery to astoundingly vivid sequences, Clarke has it all with this one. The plot was just fast paced enough to keep me hooked without feeling like we were rushing to the conclusion. Clarke made me think as I was trying to puzzle out the mystery that Amelia and Rick found themselves unraveling. Her eloquent writing made me feel as if I were adventuring alongside the characters.

Speaking of the characters, I feel as if I know them individually, as if they're true friends. Throughout the series Clarke has continued to develop her main characters in such a manner that you can't help but know and love them. At the same time, they never cease to surprise me.

I love Amelia and Rick in all of their comical and intricate ways. They're so sweet together that I simply can't get enough of them. At the same time, the mysteries that they solve go above and beyond, keeping me completely hooked on their adventures. I definitely can't wait to see where the Amelia Moore Detective Agency ends up next!
