Publisher's summary

The house is deathly silent as the summer sun starts to creep in through the dusty windows. The children should be waking up, the parents should be cooking breakfast. But they all lay still, their heads on their pillows, lifeless eyes staring at nothing. Their bodies waiting to be discovered....

When a couple and their young twin boys are discovered brutally murdered in their beds, everyone suspects this is a home invasion gone tragically wrong. But as Detective Madison Harper walks into the run-down house that is eerily empty, she isn’t so sure.

Talking to the neighbors, Madison soon discovers that the family only recently moved to the small town of Lost Creek, Colorado. No one has met them, and no one knows their names. With nothing to identify them in the house or even to show that the house belonged to them, Madison is suddenly faced with not only having to find a cold-blooded killer, but needing to identify the victims too.

Then, Madison’s heart stops in her chest when she discovers a small yellow T-shirt in the back of the family’s vehicle that says "Daddy’s Girl". The couple must have had a daughter as well as the twin boys, but where is she? Madison suspects she’s been abducted and vows to find the missing little girl before it’s too late.

But as Madison makes a breakthrough in identifying the family, she discovers they had a secret that changes the whole course of the investigation. Madison knows with every second that passes the chances of finding the girl alive get smaller, but she’s prepared to risk everything to find her—even her own life....

An absolutely gripping and twist-packed story that will make your jaw drop! Perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh, and Kendra Elliot.

What a Ride!

This book left me breathless, and I know I’ll be thinking about what all happened days after…So intriguing and suspenseful. It was so good to catch up with Madison, Nate and the best dog in the world! But I definitely could not predict the outcome of this twisted complex story. The narration was excellent as well. Highly recommend! While it could be read as a standalone, I encourage anyone reading this review to start at the beginning of this series, so you will know all the background information and can appreciate what these characters have been through.

Just all right.

I have listened to this entire series. When I began this book, I hadn't recalled that the other books had been written in present tense, but I went back and checked another book in the series and it was written in this style as well. Unfortunately, I absolutely hate when a story is told this way. That bothered me throughout the story, but my review is NOT based on that particular personal preference. The story was pretty out there, and not very believable. Everything that happened I had figured out well before the main character did. There were no surprises for me. I was somewhat disappointed in police procedure a few times; such as not knowing who a vehicle (or motorcycle, for that matter) was registered to because it didn't have plates on it. I guarantee in Colorado police can get that information with a VIN number. The narrator seemed a little flat and I found my mind wandering often during the reading of this book, so I had to rewind and refocus a few times. A few times I just gave up and decided whatever I'd missed wasn't that important in the interest of getting through the book. This was my least favorite book in the series, and I don't know if I'll listen to the next as the characters just aren't that memorable to me.
