Bad, bad, bad

I don't think I can adequately express how bad this book is. MAY HAVE SOME SPOILERS.....Short synopsis: Colt thinks Kim cheated on him; Colt cheats on her to get back at her; Colt ghosts her after that for 5 years (even though he knows she has a stalker). Colt dates MANY women and it is in social media so Kim can see that. Kim doesn't date anyone during that time. Colt "learns" that Kim did NOT cheat on him 5 years ago. Colt gets himself assigned to Kim's protection so things can go back to them being together. Colt relentlessly pursues Kim because he never stopped loving her. Colt expects Kim to fall back into his arms.

He cheated on her. That should be enough. But, he cheated just to hurt her. And, made sure she saw him. He still acted like an arrogant jerk and never seemed to be sorry enough when he came back to start things up with her again. Unfortunately, even though Kim did not want him there, she always let him get the upper hand and was always ogling him and longing for him.

I know it is unrealistic, but I read romances to feel good. I want to read that, if he loved Kim, he couldn't get it up for anyone else - much less 5 years of weekends of different women. I already said it may be unrealistic, but it is romantic. Or, at least let her be able to do some, too instead of just being a doormat.

I tried to at least finish - but, NO, NO, NO. After reading for almost 60 years, this is the worst book I have ever tried to finish.

fair

While the story plot was pretty good the whole book was very repetitive.
it sounded like a couple of kindergarteners saying don't touch me. But I want to. Don't touch me.

Ugh - want some cheese with that WHINE?

I listened to the whole book. I make it a habit to give a valiant effort. By the end of the book I wanted Colt to dump Kim and find a nice girl who didn't whine so much and who didn't treat him like dirt!

I have the same problem with many of this author's books. The heroines are written SO badly. They are typically people I wouldn't even want as acquaintances let alone friends or lovers. I keep giving this author the opportunity to make me like her characters - I have read several of them - but it's almost always a big fat NO! by the end. A couple of the books in this series were okay - if you can stand bratty, whiney, irrational heroines. Not my cup of tea!

Messed up the hero’s voice

So, the narrator’s voice isn’t bad, but the way the hero talks is so very UNsexy. I can’t ignore it. Heartthrob? Silken tongue? Not the way this guy sounds. Stopped listening.

Rabid Reader

Well written, great narration, with adventure, mystery, and romance that had sizzle, but no scenes I had to skip! I can’t wait to see what series might be next for this author! Keep them coming Cami!

Alpha male

I normally love second chance romances but I couldn't get into this one. There was a lot of repetition that didn't move the story forward which made me want to say, "yeah, yeah, we already know that", but my biggest hang up was Colt. Kim stated over and over that he wanted him to keep his distance and stop trying to draw her in. And he repeatedly broke his promise to do so. Even if he thinks that she really does want him to hold her or kiss her, that is no excuse. Don't touch me means don't touch me. No means no. And in general I don't like cocky heroes that basically say , "yeah, I know you want me". So in essence, I thought Colt was a jerk. A lot of focus on physical appearance bugs me too.

Disappointed

I love this author but this book was just not good. The overall plot started okay, and the narrator was excellent. But the redundancy of the conversations by the characters was very irritating, and boring. And beyond that, waiting five years to straighten out a misunderstanding and then just expecting forgiveness between the two main characters was totally not plausible. I try to allow creative liberties, but this was really poor writing. I had a hard time finishing it and if it hadn't been for the narrator I would have given 1 star.

Moronic women

I loved the story, colt and his sincere apologies. However, that selfish, conceited women with the IQ of a 2nd grader grated on every nerve I had. No matter what most people would have at least listened. if not the after the first attempt they would have after his 100th time. She needed to grow up and not be so insensitive, it really does affect 2 people. Not many real men would have taken her crap.

Worst book in the series

I have read many of Cami’s books this was by far the worst! The heroine was so whiny. The whole story was her being weak and whiny. I just wanted Colt to take off and forget it. I pushed myself to finish the book because I read the whole series, but it was torture. Sorry Cami you went too far with the heroine drama on this one.
