Publisher's summary

Nathaniel didn't want to believe the rumors about Castle Drachenstein and the strange experiments taking place where his new home was to be. But when a shockwave of dark energy erupts from the research facility, and the dead villagers start turning into monsters, he can do nothing but agree that he's now in a literal hell!

If he wants to stay alive, he will have to make good use of the Tiler he's been provided. Contrary to the other units he's been a part of, soldiers around here have a peculiar device on their wrist which can grant them powers. But as a basic grunt, with no hellrunes to fuel his Tiler, there's only so much he can do.

To stand any type of chance, as he looks around for answers in a world now ripe with twisted abominations, Nathaniel will need to remain cautious and not attract any unwanted attention. The key to his survival is simple: upgrade his weapon and armor set, and gather enough runes and mana to unlock his first few spells. This is the only possible way out of this horrible mess.

Gets there

It is an ok book and ok narration. I am not sure why but at times it feels like things are going too slow which is strange because the other half it feels perfect for speed. The storyline left something to be desired. There was so much world creation happening in the book it seemed like there would be a lead up to a second but honestly nothing seemed like that in the end. Good start and excited to see how this author develops over time! Keep up the hard work

A normal guy braving the horrors.

A lot more action oriented then my usual listen but not in a bad way. has some heavy game lit additions that make it a great combination of bioshock and resident evil had a child and took place in fantasy castle wolfenstein. over all a very good listen that I throughly enjoyed the whole time.

literally Doom

This book is based on the game Doom. The midevil fantesy setting doesn't work as well for this as the game because there is modern technology and composite materials everywhere. this book would have been better if the author had an editor go through the book first as it is full of typos and grammatical errors. I think Todd fixes some of these issues during his rendition. However, after the MC enters the mines, there are issues everywhere.

Doom, but not interesting

This is the first book I wasn't able to finish on Audible. Not compelling enough in my opinion and the main character just falls flat. Not the narrators fault however, the writing just doesn't seem up to par to make the world truly seem like the hellish reality it has be coming.

Terrible

Performance was good, but the overall story was not something that I would want to read over again definitely not worth the money or credit
