Publisher's summary

Doom. Devastation. Death. Destruction. It seems that no matter what direction he looks, Clay Sanders can see little else. He has tried to maintain at least a small oasis of safety for the people closest to him. But that bubble is constantly threatened by those who want it for themselves or want to deny it to Clay and his family and friends, even though it belongs to them.

The farm has already suffered, but what they have seen thus far has been nothing but a warm-up. Things are about to reach a new level, and there is absolutely nothing Clay or his friends can do to stop it or even slow it down. Clay knows that, as do the other former soldiers.

The others are about to learn it the hard way. Friends will betray, families will suffer, brothers will bleed and die. Hard work and sacrifice will be lost to hard feelings, envy, and strife. Bridges built since the catastrophe will crash and burn, destroyed by lies and mistrust and not a little jealousy and a great deal of entitlement.

Even at the end of the world as we know it, there are some who seem to think the world revolves around them and no one else. Trouble is on the horizon, even though another brand of trouble is already staring them in the eyes. Even as they try to build up, there are others waiting to set it afire.

But the farm's enemies are about to learn that nothing burns like hellfire.

A post-apocalyptic fiction by N.C. Reed.

love it

This series starts out slowish, but only to develop the characters. Half way through the first book things get interesting, and gives good advice. I devoured all eight audio books, and can't wait for the next one.

Recommendation - A Good Series to Listen or Read

I liked the Kindle and am always impatiently waiting for the Audible. Yes I purchase both as the Kindle comes out first :-) People who are interested in apocalypse CME/EMP disasters will enjoy reading and or listening to this series, which Book 1 hooks you from the start. As always, cannot wait for the next instalment :-)

Can't say enough GOOD

This series is very enjoyable. I have just finished book 8 so I am going to use this comment for all reviews. The story draws you into the family as if you are part of the Sanders clan. I look forward to more books. I was hooked by Odd Billy Todd and then the Parno books and honestly this series is now my favorite series of all time. Book one started off slow for me but by the end of book one, I was coming back for more. The author is truly a very good story writer. Some people have complained about the performance in some of the later books, hearing background noises and yes there are some but I miss the narrator as I am now on another book and I miss this series, I miss this family and even the narrator. I think it was an excellent performance, the old man's voice, Clay's voice, Brick, all the voices are very good. I highly recommend this series.

love the series

I'm totally invested in the story line. Love the characters. Thankfully I have Kindle Unlimited, it made it possible for me to buy all the audiobooks for this series at a price I could afford. Win-win-win!!

Good story but horrible narrator

I really enjoy his stories and I enjoy that the bad guys always lose but this book could definitely be shorter because it's way too much over description for example the beginning cleaning why Dale was getting in the shower unless it's for something other than watching the grime up you from the work day just really no reason to explain and explain him how he puts his pants back on etc. also I have to play the speed of the narrator up 15% more because he just talked to slow like he's out of breath and he needs to stop trying to add in sound effects. I wish Christopher Lane was near IDs like he did for odd Billy Todd

this one was much better. Go buy it

well this book had a lot of the day-to-day stuff in it and also had some good action and at the end of bills up to a larger thing that's coming. I like the fact that they finally told Jordan to go up themselves and stuck to it. How will that resolved itself who knows. The answer May sometimes back down, but it gets the job done in Spades when it's done.

A good series continues

Another good addition to a really good series. Like all of the books in this series, this story is engaging and balanced as to action, plot, and character development. It’s not junk food fiction. It’s well written. Most importantly, unlike so many other fictional series out there, this book has an actual ending. There’s no cliffhanger. This story comes to a conclusion, while promising that there is more to come.

The editing of the audio and narration isn’t perfect but it’s not distracting. I’ll keep buying as long as they keep publishing!
