Great Read

Took a while to get a handle on the Japanese names but once that had happened the story was great . . .the ending was such that I truly hope that there will be a sequel

Lian Hearn - Heaven's Net is Wide

'Heaven's Net is Wide' is the prequel to a Trilogy spanning the 'Tales of the Otori'. I would not have picked this story myself but several friends recommended it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It didn't reach 5stars for me, since the pace dragged in a couple of places. I was also kept on my toes, placing all of the non-central characters, and had to rewind some passages. BUT I will certainly seek out the trilogy of the Otori and look forward to listening to them all them all.
Lian Hearn writes beautifully, and the language is descriptive without being flowery. A pleasure

The perfect way to end the series

The most difficult part of listening to this book was making myself turn it off. The entire series has been consistently well written and narrated. I initially struggled with the updated narrator but by the time I got to this book I couldn't imagine anyone else reading it. What a fantastic journey from start to finish.
