In Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff disappears for three years and returns, a mysteriously changed man. This epic historical novel of obsessive love and high adventure is the story of Heathcliff's remarkable transformation.

After fleeing Wuthering Heights, and haunted by memories of his first love, Heathcliff embarks on an astounding 18th-century odyssey that takes him to Liverpool, on a slave ship to Africa, and across the treacherous Middle Passage to the brothels and slave markets of Jamaica. When Heathcliff arrives in London, he meets the enigmatic Frenchwoman Agnes Sorel, who pulls him into a daring and dangerous scheme that might make his fortune, or cost him his life.

I was hoping this would be an exciting interlude but I fear the copy editing could have been stronger. The prose is workmanlike, the dialogue and characterization flat. Interiority was non-existent.
