Resumen del Editor

A reimagining of the story behind Agent 355 - a New York society girl and spy for George Washington during the Revolutionary War - perfect for fans of Tatiana de Rosnay’s Sarah’s Key and the novels of Julie Berry.

Rebellious Frannie Tasker knows little about the war between England and its 13 colonies in 1776, until a shipwreck off her home in Grand Bahama Island presents an unthinkable opportunity. The body of a young woman floating in the sea gives Frannie the chance to escape her brutal stepfather - and she takes it.

Assuming the identity of the drowned Emmeline Coates, Frannie is rescued by a British merchant ship and sails with the crew to New York. For the next three years, Frannie lives a lie as Miss Coates, swept up in a courtship by a dashing British lieutenant. But after witnessing the darker side of the war, she realizes that her position gives her power. Soon she finds herself eavesdropping on British officers, risking everything to pass information on to George Washington’s Culper spy ring as Agent 355. Frannie believes in the fight for American liberty - but what will it cost her? Inspired by the true “355” and rich in historical detail and intrigue, this is the story of an unlikely New York society girl turned an even unlikelier spy.

Amazing read!!

The writing of the author and the delivery by the narrator were impeccable! Both drew me in and had me cheering and concerned for the heroine. They also made it possible to feel, hear and smell what was described. Absolutely loved the information regarding the times and conditions during the American Revolution. I never really considered the duration or suffering apart from the soldiers before!

Entertaining with good narration

I wish the book had been more about her work as a spy. But overall it’s a good story, i finished this in a day and definitely would let my daughter read this. Clean language, no problematic scenes etc.

Another great book from Veronica Rossi!

This was a departure from her futuristic works but she can write history just as well.

Enjoyable Read

Loved the story of what could have been. We know so little about the women who were a part of the spy network and Ms Rossi brought a fun light to what might of been.

An enjoyable adventure

Although 355 did exist, this this young girls, fictitious posing as a person of influence was difficult to believe for her to learn in six days. What it takes to become a social light of 19 years is pretty difficult, especially being as she was supposedly an uneducated, lowly her determination to become a spy, was commendable child of a cobbler and a mother that married a drunk to lift her status about town. Her determination to become a spy was commendable although unrealistic as she really had no idea or any true connection to spying other than the briefest introduction from Asa Lane back on the ship.
She went about things acting before, thinking, which put not only herself, but others in danger, more than once, such as Malcolm. I liked the irony that she ended up on the jersey that she originally saw in the first place, and that Hackett, who was her nemesis to begin with, was there to guard her through that ordeal as well all in all the Ried flows well the characters are written well she’s definitely got a hand on how teenagers think in their self centered, it’s all about me and what I want ideals and many of the historical points may not have been actual but they were realistic because she did her homework I think
Miss Rossi has written an excellent piece, and it is worth the time to enjoy it
