He seemed perfect. But he was a liar . . .

Sarah is in a loving relationship with Paul, a man she hopes to one day marry and start a family with, until his untimely death turns her world upside down.

Trying to come to terms with her loss, Sarah finds comfort in looking through Paul's old things, including his laptop and his emails. But after finding something troubling, Sarah begins to discover things about her late partner that she never knew before, and it seems he wasn't as perfect as she thought. As she unravels more about his secretive past, she ends up learning things that not only break her heart, but that the police would be interested to know too.

But it's only when she keeps digging that she realizes that some of these secrets are also shared by people who are still alive. And they will do anything to keep them hidden . . .

He was a liar. And now she is in danger . . .

The pacing was very slow and typical Hurst tropes and style. But something about it had me completely invested.

I wanted to know what Paul had locked on his laptop!

There was one part that I was shocked by but the reveal was slightly underwhelming. I’m glad it went the route it did though because it would’ve been a DNF if it was building up to what I thought would be the twist.

ONE OF THE BETTER HURST BOOKS BUT POORLY PACED

the storyline in this book was great but it took off like pushing manual transmission and popping the clutch to stay it kinda brutal, stay with it, it picks up!!

*** 3.5 Stars Rounded Up *** Daniel Hurst does a great job with writing interesting plots, characters, and twists. Most of his stories are a nice reasonable length too. He Was a Liar fits this description perfectly. While entertaining, this wasn’t one of my favorites of Hurst’s.

Entertaining

Great story about karma. But wasn’t expecting those last few chapters. Narrators were awesome. Engaging and interesting characters.

I didn’t expect that!
