I pushed through

What made the experience of listening to Hard Rules the most enjoyable?

This book started off slow and picked up right when it is getting good it is over. I really hope the next book doesn't drag like this one did at the begining.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The woman was the worst narrator I have ever heard. She tried to hard and ended up sounding like a computer and Siri all mixed up and I HATED her sections. I almost gave up and returned the book but I am too nosy to give up I just sucked it up and delt with it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It took me longer to get through this book than it has others.

WARNING: Cliffhanger! BUT Worth The Fall!

With the perfect balance of romance and suspense, readers are easily swept into the story of two people in a relationship that feels both doomed and hopeful at the same time. And, of course, the ending only leaves you wanting more.

The combination of an author I love and a narrator I adore made this a guaranteed good listen.

Couldn't finish

I'm not sure if it was the story or the slooooooow narration cadence that made this book a snoozer for me but I just couldn't get into it. The male narration was on the creepy side as well which didn't help either. Not for me! I returned this one. =(

4 books needed to end story

Although I liked the story and the characters, I am mad at the author that she requires her readers to purchase 4 books when it could have been told in 2 or 3. I will be hesitant to buy any of her books again...I feel that I got ripped off,

Truth and Love of Two People to Become One

This is another good book by Lisa Renee Jones I loved it, if you are a fan of her other great books you will get wrapped up in this one quickly. I am also a fan of the two narrators so this helped me follow their story as well. Can't wait to see what Lisa comes up with next, she is a great author :)

Shane is a successful lawyer. His father is head of a Mafioso and he's dying. Shane wants to legitimize the business while his brother, Derek, wants to take it deeper into crime. Then there's Shane's mother who meddles on both sides to benefit her own agenda.

Emily is on the run. New city, new job, new identity. There's no hints or clues as to what she's running from.

Shane and Emily meet in a coffee shop where they have insta attraction and leave with each other's coffee. Next time they meet Shane asks her to dinner and from there a one night stand. Shane starts thinking he wants more than a one night stand with Emily.

Here starts the good stuff....Turns out Emily's new job is the assistant to Shane's dad. She isn't aware of the family-tie. Since Shane's dad goes thru an assistant a week, Shane had not met Emily in that role. When Shane and Emily realize their connection, Shane accusses her of spying for his dad. This is their story.....

This story kept me intrigued from page one. There's not a lot of inner dialogue or retieration which are two pet peeves of mine. Emily is a strong female lead which really makes me wonder why she's on the run.

The second book Damage Control is now out so I don't have to worry about the cliffhanger.

Grace Grant's performance. A couple of her male voices were to slow. I think this is more the producers doing. I have many books performed by Grace that don't have this issue.

Jeremy York's performance was spot on as usual.

Cliffhanger and Slow

1) I did not know it was a cliffy.... my fault for not reading deeper.

2) Super vague which makes it such a slow read. The multi twist just cluttered it and made it too muddy..... to blah...

3) I expected it to be fuller with content to titillate the brain. I found that I looked forward to the next book in my line up more than knowing "who done it?!"

It was not the worst book I've heard but I do not plan to get the next I the series unless it's on sale or a bogo event.

This was a great great story can't wait till then next 3. When I say I listen to a lot of books this is #1...

cliffhanger

right when the book is getting good she cliffhanger it. the next book comes out in February which is irritating by then I'll done forgot about this book. Prefer books n series so I can blow threw them. Oh yeah the female narrator sounds like a robot maybe by February she will figure how not too. The male was very easy to listen to.

Was lost in the beginning but then got into the book and then your left with a horrible cliff hanger! :(
