Publisher's Summary

There are exactly 2,716 miles between my home in Boston and my best friend in Las Vegas. When she calls me to let me know that she’s about to get married and needs me at her ceremony in five days, how could I refuse?

Just one problem. These winter storms have all the flights cancelled.

Luckily for me, I’m not the only person desperate to get to that wedding. Kristen’s dad, whom I’ve never met, is waiting outside my apartment, willing to drive me across the country so neither of us miss the wedding.

By New York, I learn that Henry James is the smuggest British man I have ever met.

In Chicago, he makes me question every single life choice I’ve made.

It’s in Denver that we finally break the forbidden rules between us.

By the time we reach Vegas, my best friend may never want to speak to me again - because I’ve fallen head over heels for her dad.

Sexy British Dad... yes, please!

An age gap romance with a sexy British dad… yes, please! Sara Cate definitely knocked it out of the park with "Handsome Devil"… I loved everything about this story, and by the end I couldn’t help but crave more of Laila and Henry. The storyline was ingeniously clever as a best friend and the father-of-the-bride road trip to Vegas in hopes of both supporting and stopping a wedding. Laila’s preconceived opinions of an arrogant Henry lead to some entertaining and humorous banter. As they navigated the road and a few awkward obstacles along the way, an undeniable attraction sparked and the chemistry was so magnetic, the forbidden lust only fueled their desires. The narration was perfection! New-to-me narrators, CJ Bloom and Will Watt did an amazing performance capturing the personalities of the characters, while keeping the consistency of Henry’s British accent as the POV changed. My oh my...Will definitely had me swooning with that voice!

Laila and Henry

This was a really good age-gap story. Laila and Henry took the long way from the East Coast to Las Vegas for her best friend and his daughter's wedding. Neither were able to get a flight out so they drove together. Along the way things changed for both of them. Sara Cate writes great age-gap romance books. Would love it if the book were longer to find out how things turn out for them down the road. CJ Bloom and Will Watt did a great job with the narration.

Fun Sexy Sweet

Oh my gosh this was such a fun story! Incredibly sexy and sweet. The chemistry with these characters was fantastic and the comedy laced in was perfect. It was short but didn’t need any more to it because it wouldn’t just dragged out. Highly recommend for a fun lighthearted listen while still wanting something sexy. Narration was PERFECTION! I love these two narrators as they always do such an amazing job with connecting with their characters and bringing out the story. BRAVO!

Age Gap / Best Friend's Dad & I'm Here for It!

I picked up this audio book because I really enjoy Sara Cate as an author, and I'm a fan of both CJ Bloom and Will Watt. I went in blind and ended up really enjoying this best friend's dad romance. I haven't loved age gap stories in the past, but Sara Cate is quickly changing my mind. She has a way to normalize "taboo" romances so that the reader/listener has an understanding of HOW relationships like this begin.

Henry is a 39 year old surgeon who wasn't around a lot when his daughter, Kirsten, was growing up, because he was in England working. Now they are in a place where they are growing closer. She wants to get married in Vegas and he can't get a flight. Her best friend, Laila, who is 21 and a virgin, also needs to get to Vegas and cannot get a flight. The cross-country road trip with the two of them leads to a blossoming romance while they both internally wrestle with what this means for their relationship with Kirsten.

It's a quick read/listen and I found myself definitely rooting for Henry and Laila to end up together. It was spicy, funny, and an all around fun story to experience!

Yummy Dad

This was a cute story. Very seldom do you read where the daughter is fixing up her dad with your best best friend. This was the case and they didn't even know it. I loved how diffent Layla and Henry were yet fit perfect together. Great narration for both of these characters!

First age gap story I liked

Story was well written & paced. Loved CJ Bloom, as always her tone brings out the snark, humor & feels perfectly. Will Watt was great as well. Worth the credit for an easy listen.

Nice little quicky!

I had to read this to work towards reading all of Sara Cate's backlist and this was the perfect little treat for an afternoon. I love the tropes involved and it was a good time. Great performances and I enjoyed my time with the characters. I just wish it was longer.

3.5 "fun," "hurt so good" GR stars!

There's a trend, I've copped to, in which authors happily write-in all the tropes! Or, at least, piece together as many as can fit together feasibly in one story.

Rarely do these recipes completely work as 5 star reads, IMO, and sometimes they completely flop, but most times, they work to the extent of being decent reads —because of the basic category romance formula, or because one plot device and/or mood saves the story.

Of course, Handsome Devil is the latter. Both humor and the road trip save the story, —for a decent, quickie read. No in-depth characterization, no angst; just some indecision and a small initial grumpy/sunshine vibe.

Henry and Kayla's love happens very quickly, and they are fun and sexy together, minus their small bit of hedging when it comes time to really be together.

This was a light, fun, and easy romance, and those qualities overshadow the "taboo" of the relationship, making it not an obstacle at all.

Happy Reading.

Nails on chalkboard

I'm struggling not to return this book because I cant stand the female narrator. She's much too old for this part. The only way to describe her style is...yappy. she needs to soften her voice. A lot.
And when she voices the male character she sounds more like a stern marry poppins. Very "Propper" British accent...and it's offputting.
it's also killing the plot building and I'm losing interest quickly. I can't imagine listening to that voice during any kind of intimate scenes, i would laugh myself silly.

Age gap magic

A quick sexy age gap romance Sara Cate style.

The narration team really brought stuffy, boring Henry to life....or was that Laila?

Anyways this will definitely put a smile on your face!
