Intriguing

This second book in The Night Guardians Series became quite intriguing once you got into the story. The first part of the book started out a little slowly and it was a bit disconcerting to find that Daniel had continued his stalking of Nicole and now her son as well. However this was soon cleared up and the story became very interesting, in fact so much so that I found it difficult to put down. I enjoyed this book very much and found it suspenseful and intriguing. The addition of Jordan was quite a treat. He was such a sweet boy and a wonderful addition to the story. Once again the narrator did a fabulous job. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, however I have voluntarily provided this unbiased review.

Daniel's HEA with Nicole? Yes, please!

After I finished Vigilant, I couldn't have been happier to know that this story existed. I mean, come on. Daniel was my favorite, so to see a whole book dedicated to his HEA with Nicole? Yes, please!
So, was it any good? Yes. I loved it. I loved their reconnecting with each other, his having to gain her trust (in more ways than one), them talking about their shared past and the hurting they did to the other and, just overall, them being imperfect, completely relatable people who have struggles and need all kinds of reminders in their walk with God. Truly, I think that was the part that I enjoyed the most: the knowing/being reminded that we're not in control, but rather need to submit to the Lord's will, and accept His forgiveness and grace.
Now, while I definitely liked the romance and them being committed to each other, I also liked the suspense, since the author gives us the villain's POV in some random chapters of the story. Oh, and I also enjoyed the mystery that had been left open from some threads of the previous book, especially concerning Nicole's past.

The narrator was just as good this time around, not only bringing all the characters to life (especially favorite ones like Daniel, Nicole, and Char, as well as Jordan, among others), but also nailing every single emotion (and this book has all the gamut of them: shock, anger, fear/trembling, passion, and so on). I also loved not only that he acts the sighs and laughs, but also the voices as they would sound through the phone or through a dispatch/radio. It definitely made for a much more realistic experience.

All in all, a great sequel to Sara Davison's The Night Guardians series, perfect for fans of Romantic Suspense, Christian Fiction that ponders hard questions or situations, and/or foreign settings (this one is set in Canada for the most part). ~ 4.5 stars
