These 200 tales were collected by the Brothers Grimm in the early nineteenth century. They traveled throughout Northern Europe and some of Scandinavia and had oral storytellers tell their stories. You will be able to see that many themes are the same with different characters. In fact, there are really many ways to tell the same story!

Be aware that this is a work of history and it reflects many prejudices from the past that we do not accept today. See it as a glimpse into a life far away…but very often our beginning!

I read this to my 2 month old son very often while we llisten on Audible. it's awesome, can't wait to hear all the stories I havent yet!!

Uninteresting

Some hours in and not one story to capture any kind of my attention. I know fairy tales, where and hw they began, also know the new version of them, these in the book,.. yawn. Fairy tales of old are quite dark, people of old didn't sugar coat, the tales were meant to frighten to cause children and some adults to behave, The stories in this book are more of an annoyance rather than a cautionary tale. Wasn't to keen on the narrator which can make or break any given story.
