Things to do: 1. Rescue sister. 2. Murder grandmother. 3. Don't upset the voodoo priestess.

The clock is ticking for Sabina Kane. Her sister has been kidnapped by her grandmother, the Dark Races are on the brink of war, and a mysterious order is manipulating everyone behind the scenes. Working on information provided by an unlikely ally, Sabina and her trusty sidekicks---a sexy mage named Adam Lazarus and Giguhl, a Mischief demon---head to New Orleans to begin the hunt for her sister. Once there, they must contend with belligerent werewolves, magic-wielding vampires, and, perhaps most frightening of all, humans. But as much as Sabina is focused on surviving the present, the past won't be ignored. Before she can save those she cares about most, she must save herself from the ghosts of her past.

Another great book in the series. It has a great plot that isn't predictable with a constant build up to the big showdown. If you liked the other books in the series, you will love this one. I don't want to give specifics because it will ruin it.

My ONLY complaint is with the performance. I enjoy Cynthia Holloway's excellent use of distinctly different voices and infusion of emotion into the characters. However, someone please teach her how to pronounce some of the words correctly (facsimile, gris gris, mulish, and a few others). This isn't the only book or series she mispronounces words, it is very common in her work. I can't believe someone doesn't catch it in the recording process.

Exciting!

the narrator seriously mispronounced some words to the point of having to think it through to figure out what they meant by context. I could understand different pronunciations for port cochere and such, but 'phA-lan-ches'for phalanges took me a minute. Not a huge issue in itself but disruptive to flow of story.

Liked The Story But...

This installment in the series is very good. It continues the story from the first two books. I was impressed that Sabina's character continued to grow and change throughout the series. Sabina starts out as a loner who has to do things her way. She also blindly follows the authority of her grandmother. By the end of the book Sabina learns to share responsibilty and accepts help from friends. All three books are filled with action. The one thing I did not like about Sabina's character is that she always excepted the responsibilty for everything. Luckily her self esteem issues do not stop her from solving her problems and growing as a person. I strongly recommend that you read all three books in order. I passed on this series for a while before I decided to read it. If you are on the fence about buying it, get off the fence and buy the first book. You won't regret it.

Nice ending
