Story
Vera Wong is a lonely little lady of a certain age who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. She likes nothing more than sipping on a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy detective work on the Internet about what her Gen-Z son is up to. Then one morning, Vera trudges downstairs to find a curious thing—a dead man in the middle of her shop. In his outstretched hand, a flash drive. After calling the cops like any good citizen, she swipes the flash drive. Why? Because Vera is sure she would do a better job than the police possibly could.

Story
Cassie Hanwell was born for emergencies. As one of the only female firefighters in her Texas firehouse, she's seen her fair share of them, and she's excellent at dealing with other people's tragedies. But when her estranged and ailing mother asks her to uproot her life and move to Boston, it's an emergency of a kind Cassie never anticipated. The tough, old-school Boston firehouse is as different from Cassie's old job as it could possibly be. Hazing, a lack of funding, and poor facilities mean that the firemen aren't exactly thrilled to have a "lady" on the crew.

Impressive MY heart melt
What a beautiful story. The characters are so real and raw that the reader has no problem relating to them. Andrew Rolston contributions is so realistic that you are immediately drawn into the emotional and tragic world of these star-crossed lovers from different ends of the economic spectrum. A highly-recommend to all.

Greasy Through the Sky
This was actually a very interesting book. Greasy is a 17 year old boy that is given a medical diagnosis that impacts his life. He lives with his elderly grandmother since he lost both his parents. With his diagnosis he decides to drop out of school to help take care of her financially. He soon realizes that it going to take a bit more that expected.
Greasy decided to contact a local TV show with their situation hoping to make a few extra buck. He sure didn’t bargain for what they had in mind. Well worth the listen.
I though the narration was spot on. Megan did a great job!

A Boy Named Greasy
Greasy Through the Sky
By: Andrew Rolston
A seventeen year old boy named Greasy has been raised by his 102 year old grandmother. That in itself is a bit questionable, but theoretically possible. Greasy was
always put first by his grandmother. All of her children and in-laws have died. When Greasy starts having memory problems the adventure begins.
This is an interesting listen, with the exception of the overuse of "g** d***." I found that and a couple other phrases annoying!! The use of excess similes is
hilarious. Lots of twists and turns that keep the listener guessing. I will listen to other works by this author if the language is less profane. An occasional swear
is OK for emphases, but overuse detracts.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Megan Scharlau did a decent job.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Seriously Dark
This story is about a boy named Greasy. He has to face some pretty serious matters. It has a lot of dark humor, and at times it is so well written that it's very cringeworthy. Be forewarned, this book is not only very sad, but the suspense will make you very tense.

Interesting story with a bit of frustration
The story is interesting, and certainly takes a few turns I didn't expect. I also thought the narration was really good.
I did get a little irritated with the overuse of the phrase "god damn." I'm not offended by it (or cursing in general) but a main character says it constantly - sometimes 5 times in a sentence.
To be fair, if I were reading the book I would probably gloss over the repetition, but as an audiobook, it was a distraction.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. George Orwell once wrote of a world where abuse of power begins with an abuse of language and a bastardization of truth. Some of today's most exciting voices in speculative fiction explore the ramifications of those ideas in Ignorance Is Strength.

And that bullying doesn't stop at the school doors. And that bullying doesn't stop at the school doors.
