Story
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

Story
The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. And she can use this invisibility to her advantage.

In 10 lectures, award-winning historian Patrick N. Allitt transports listeners to England in the 1840s and 1850s. During those two decades, Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, became one of the most influential people in the country and remains a figure of fascination even today. In fact, the British royal family as we know it wouldn't exist without the private and public actions of this detached, impartial, and upright political figure.

For example, integration of major league and professional sports broke a major color barrier for one of the first times in the early years of the Civil Rights Movement. African American athletes competed in America long before the 20th century - in fact, they even competed during the years of slavery.

Publisher's Summary
Exclusively written for Audible, available only in audio
Sleep is central to every part of our lives, and a good night's sleep begins by putting aside the day's worries. But in today's technology-saturated world, saying goodnight to the day is harder than ever. Allow author Arianna Huffington (Thrive, The Sleep Revolution) to guide you to a peaceful night's slumber as she performs Goodnight Smartphone: a classic tale reborn for the modern age, when the hardest thing to say goodnight to is not the moon but our phones, our email, our social media, our always-on digital selves.
During a visit to Audible to speak about the benefits of sleep, Arianna joked about what a wonderful book Goodnight Moon is and how other childhood classics help transition kids from daytime to sleep time. She posited why there weren't such books for adults. "Goodnight cares of the day, goodnight worries about tomorrow, goodnight laptop!" she exclaimed. Soon after, Goodnight Smartphone was born. Listen as Arianna borrows from the traditions of children's bedtime stories to create this modern age adaptation for adults, and learn more about her daily sleep regimen in her introduction. Exclusively written for Audible, available only in audio.
Inspired by children's bedtime classics, this audiobook is a playful and relaxing guide to help you transition from the worries of a stressful day to a good night's sleep, and you can hear it only on Audible.

Don’t waste your time
Arianna Huffington has written something, but what it is remains unclear. She claims it is an ”update” of the classic story, Goodnight Moon, but it lacks all the charm of that book. It is not funny or satirical, but simply a waste of time. While only 6 minutes long, this audiobook is not worth 6 seconds of your time.

This was just painful
When I saw that someone had decided to revisit Goodnight Moon, I figured it was worth a look. This whole digital "board book" is painful and certainly not a book that I would share with the children in my life. It seems oddly preachy for what I would have assumed was a book intended for children. Seriously, even as a FREE book this is a waste of your time. This awkward stream of consciousness seems more like someone is projecting their own stresses onto paper. I almost regret the fact that it is in my Audible library now because I know I will never listen to it again.

Quick Ideas About Sleep
A short overview of some of the ideas presented in Huffington's recent book The Sleep Revolution with a twist of using the children's book GoodNight Moon as the format. I didn't think it was as awful as some reviews here on Audible made it seem. In fact, it was only 6 minutes long, offered a variety of helpful ideas about getting more sleep and it was free. You can't beat that for a deal. Glad I listened.
