Publisher's summary

Imagine a world where personal and professional growth are combined, where improving your relationships and owning your strengths at work translate directly into the rest of your life.

Creating a company culture like that is not a dream. Through personal stories and real-life conversations, Jonathan Raymond takes you into the room with managers and employees where real culture change happens and shows you a new kind of employee mentoring where each person gets the real-time feedback, support, and clear boundaries we all need to get beyond the patterns that hold us back.

In this provocative and timely new book, Jonathan brings together what he has learned over a 20-year journey as an executive, an entrepreneur, a team leader, and a leadership trainer. Combining his experience as the CEO and CBO of EMyth, where he led the transformation of a global coaching brand with the lessons learned along his own personal growth journey, Jonathan walks us through a step-by-step approach that integrates the leading edges of both. You'll discover a way to lead your team that is both profoundly human and results-oriented at the same time.

Whether you're a CEO or business owner, an executive, a team leader, a consultant, or a coach, Good Authority will give you new ideas and inspiration you can put into practice. Most importantly, it will give you permission to be more of who you are at work than you ever thought possible.

I really wanted to like this book

I felt like the title should have been "how to have difficult conversations with your employees to help them grow". That's probably a book I would have passed on. It just didn't hit home. Maybe it's because I am not in a position to have to have difficult conversations with employees. I want to grow into a leadership role, which is not what this book was about. The content didn't deliver on what the cover broadcast to me.

Can't wait to implement with everyone on my team

I was able to begin using the material immediately. Simple and effective. This changed my mindset on how to help those in my charge. This is going to impact our company's culture, one conversation at a time.

Good information and insightful at times

Overall Good Authority provides several points of consideration in terms of approach and management style. Pace of delivery for me, could have been a little better. Overall worth the listening time.

Bons Insights

No todo, excelente.

Fácil de absorver e de escutar. Achei apenas muito introdutório em alguns quesitos, poderia ter desenvolvido mais nas classificações de cada tipo de profissional.

Great find

I’m a business coach and read quite a bit. I read a lot and recommend very little. This is in my short list of books I strongly encourage my clients to read.

Need to make it to the last few chapters

This is a challenging book to review. The first few chapters were really hard to get through. The information seemed so general and not helpful. The last few chapters related to types of managers and types of employees and how to address strengths and weaknesses was insightful and helpful.

Must have in your leadership library

In my everyday quest to be a better leader and follower, I try many books. This book was easy to listen to, easy to see myself and others in a leadership light, and gives just the right amount of guidance and encouragement to help me move forward on being that better leader. I am excited to implement some strategies for myself and to mentor my direct reports. I will be reading it, or listening to it, again.

Actually Helpful

One of the few actually helpful and thought provoking business books especially as a newer manager.

Keep your mind open and truly be honest with yourself. I have implemented multiple ideas in my own way from this book and has gone very well! One of the few business books I would recommend!

Really good listen

Loved the first 2/3 of this audiobook. Last part was a bit slow. However, very interesting and some useful approaches to apply.

A transformational book for people leaders

One of the best books I listened to on the topic of leadership at the workplace. I also absolutely love the concept that he is putting forward - how to get results through human conversations about growth and owning one’s responsability instead of being “the bad boss”.

Tedious for experienced leaders

Didn’t make it past chapter 4. Probably good for new managers but I’d recommend Leadership and Self-Deception instead.
