Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times and Globe and Mail best-selling author Candice Fox delivers a compulsive new crime thriller with Gone by Midnight.

Crimson Lake is where people with dark pasts come to disappear - and where others vanish into thin air....

Four young boys are left alone in a hotel room while their parents dine downstairs. When Sara Farrow checks on the children at midnight, her son is missing.

Distrustful of the police, Sara turns to Crimson Lake’s unlikeliest private investigators - disgraced cop Ted Conkaffey and convicted killer Amanda Pharrell. For Ted, the case couldn’t have come at a worse time. Two years ago, a false accusation robbed him of his career, his reputation, and most importantly, his family. But now, Lillian, the daughter he barely knows, is coming to stay in his ramshackle cottage by the lake.

Ted must dredge up the area’s worst characters to find the missing boy. The clock is ticking, and the danger he uncovers could well put his own child in deadly peril.

Love this series!

The narration is stellar, the plot and pace is break neck speed. Highly recommend you start from book one.

Fantastic characters

I liked the twists and turns. It was great to have so many different life stories going on at the same time then somehow meshing together.

Hard to beat this series author and narrator! Don’t miss it.

Unpredictable plot twists in this suspenseful story, sprinkled with both hilarious and sweet moments. Well-developed characters and scenes with zero drag in this whole book series. Also, such a pleasure listening to the narrator with his perfect pacing and variable pitch helping the story come to life.

I remain fans of Ted and Amanda

I've never been a series reader but the author has me sold on this one. The story line keeps with twist, turns, mystery and humor.

I hope we get more.

Good story

Well written and engaging story. Characters come to life. Not the same old rehashed remake of a worn out storyline.

That rare series I want to never end

I absolutely love this series, so much so that I try to “ration” my listening in order to make the books last longer. The characters are so well developed that they don’t seem like fictional beings at all, but real people into whose lives we are allowed to peek for a bit. People I cannot wait to come back and visit As an animal lover, I also appreciate that animals are used to create a more real, well-rounded world, with some fun, heart-warming scenes or even a bit of minor goose drama, but never for overly tragic, heart-wrenching realism. Many authors seem to go for that low-hanging fruit - killing off a beloved animal for a bit of gratuitous heartache. I do not want that in the books I read. I love everything about the books in this series - the interesting plot lines, the unique characters, the great writing, and the excellent narration. Well done, Ms. Fox!

You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing!! Just as good as the first two in the series. The plot is awesome, the narration is among the best I’ve heard, and the characters kept me laughing even when the subject matter was dark. You will definitely not be disappointed by this audiobook if you love a good mystery!!
