A crime lord has declared war on America. Only Detective Michael Bennett knows why.
Manuel Perrine doesn't fear anyone or anything. A charismatic and ruthless leader, Perrine slaughters rivals as effortlessly as he wears his trademark white linen suit. Detective Michael Bennett once managed to put Perrine behind bars, the only official in the US ever to accomplish that. But now Perrine is out, and he has sworn to find and kill Bennett and everyone dear to him.
Detective Bennett, along with his 10 adopted children, their nanny, and his grandfather, are hidden safely on a rural California farm, with guards courtesy of the FBI's witness protection program. Perrine begins to embark on an escalating series of assassinations across the country, killings whose brazenness and audacity bring into question the possibility of safety and law in the U.S. The FBI has no choice but to ask Detective Bennett to risk it all in Perrine's war on America.
With explosive action and fierce villainy that rivals James Bond movies at their best, Gone is the next astounding novel by James Patterson.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes I would reccomend this for a summer listen,I enjoyed listening and it cost me only my membership dues. I almost droppped my membership/subscription to Audible but now am glad I accumulated credits to listen to Gone
What did you like best about this story?
I was enthralled by the pace and tempo, the backround music and character plotline. The story was out of current headlines and full of many events that seemed believeable. A good mystery. with action and tenderness combined.
I found mention of facebook, and the modern tech very rewarding; placing michael bennett and clan in upto date circumstances.
Which character – as performed by Danny Mastrogiorgio and Henry Leyva – was your favorite?
I can't pick a favorite character, I liked at least 5 of this bunch. I enjoyed the narrators and all nuances of their performance. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I found myself carrying around my Android while I spent my day taking care of household choreskept my interest

What made the experience of listening to Gone the most enjoyable?
I enjoy the adventures of Michael Bennett and his large family. Nice to get the family out of Manhattan once in a while. What did you like best about this story?
Shamus is the best. Other than his character nothing was liked the best. There is gratuitious violence, some stereotypical behaviors from Latino villians, no passion between Michael and Mary Catherine, the kids are not developed well or growing up--waiting for something that focuses on the childrenWhat does Danny Mastrogiorgio and Henry Leyva bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
They were good. I could not tell when the narrators changed. Are they the narrators due to the need of someone who could speak with a variety of dialects or accents(male, female, kids voices; Spanish, Irish, Western/Ranch drawl, young etc.)What happened to Bobby Cannavale? Toward the end it was difficult to distinguish between Mary Catherine and Shamus' Irish accents. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Moved me? Irritated me is more like it. Get rid of the sound effects. Please leave something to the imagination of the listener. This is not radio.Any additional comments?
This story leaves the listener wanting...there were so many storylines that need tied up...some characters were just "there" and we don't hear anything else about them and the story is over. The bull who was transported to sire...Michael Bennett and the Adventures of his Family

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would highly recommend this as a very enjoyable read. The story line is well adhered to according to the series and the characters continue to develop into the plot line.Would you listen to another book narrated by Danny Mastrogiorgio and Henry Leyva ?
It was difficult to accept anyone other than Bobby Canavale in the role of Michael Bennett. Overall, Mr. Mastrogiorgio did a good job with the performance. But, replacing an iconic voice is an unenviable task that would have challenged even the most talented performer. Henry Leyva was excellent. His ability to adapt to the vocal inflection and accents was spot on and never missed a beat. Understanding that much of that may be a result of outstanding production and editing, I nonetheless found his performance solid and bound me to the personality of the characters.Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the next Michael Bennett book. Well done!!!!Another winner for JP & Detective Bennett
