Publisher's Summary

This piece, formerly titled The Divine Conquest, was created as a sequel to The Pursuit of God.

Admitting to having been forced by inward pressure and an unbearable burden to write it, Tozer's aim was to assure believers that if they want to know the power of Christ they must be invaded by God.

"This little work of the spiritual way has not been 'made' in any mechanical sense, it has been born out of inward necessity....The sight of the languishing church around me and the operations of a new spiritual power within me have set up a pressure impossible to resist." - A.W. Tozer

Amazing Prequel

This is a wonderful prequel to The Pursuit of God and, if read/heard before, will give great insight to the majesty of our Heavenly Father. (I happened to read/hear it after, but this did not take away from it’s clear input. And I’ll surely read both again, this one first, next time.) Tozer speaks often of religion and how we’ve created terrible definitions for only holy things, essentially giving religion a new meaning that pleases us, not God.

A staple of this book is the Holy Spirit, very often misunderstood and more often forgotten or dismissed by sinful man. When thinking of the Godhead, we tend to think of only the Father and Son. This book does as the Bible does: explaining the Holy Spirit as a Person in the Trinity, and One we can always turn to, as He lives in us after salvation, ready to fill us at any moment, so long as we have our priorities right.

Grover Gardner may be applauded (once again) for his work, and even more so as he spoke Tozer’s words so well. Tozer’s eloquence and insight is rarely found these days, and Grover made it seem like a walk in the park, making the book easy to understand. Well done!

Tozer's Great Message...

remains here, just as in The Pursuit Of God, namely that a deep, mature theology resides in a direct relationship with the divine and a transcendence of the phony-miracle-monied-medicine show that most organized religion inevitably becomes. I highly recommend the work of Bonhoeffer and Barth as compliment to the work of Tozer.

one of the best

There are very few authors who have the insight into God's word as A.W.Tozer. the church would profit so much if it would embrace the truths of God's word which Tozer brings forth to his readers.

A Convicting Reminder of the Sovereignty of God

A short but robust read on the calling of God to Man and the efficacious work of the Holy Spirit. I enjoyed this book primarily because of its theological content and Tozer's eloquent style of delivering his message. I suggest this book to those who have an Arminian view of Salvation and those struggling with Reformed or the Augustinian view of how Salvation is received from God. I rate this book highly because of its clear theology and the emphasis of God's monergistic work in the Ordo Salutis (Order of Salvation).

Absolutely Amazing

I am up to 47 books in my Audible library, and this is one of the most real, powerful and challenging biblical treatises on the Christian's responsibility on how to walk in Him, that I have ever heard.

Great clarity about the spirit's role in the believers life.

The spirit filled life is not the super christian version of faith, it is true faith. Excellent and thought provoking!

God's Persuit of Man

Tozer's dence prose are well read here so the voice did not get in the way of what was being said. This is complex theology explained simply - I felt I actualy understood it. After hearing it several more times I hope to remember it.
