Publisher's Summary

Gabriel has taken his first step to become the most powerful mage in the universe, but the path to his ultimate destiny has just begun. The next step to greatness for both he and his ragtag guild lay in their latest contract to recover a powerful magical artifact from across the desert.

Now, he will have to harness new powers over the mind and magic to overcome dragons, gryphons, a fight club full of halflings, and the harebrained ideas of a sweet-but-ditzy alchemist just to reach their goal and the powerful rogue wizard who has it in his clutches.

This novel contains harem elements.

Not going for book 3

I wrote a long review on book one. Can't even be bothered with this one. Great potential unfulfilled. I just don't get the world and the characters... It was better than book one in many aspects, but again I had to force myself to finish the book. I don't believe in refunding books, rather, I will leave an honest review and stop buying sequels and remove the author from my watchlist. I feel somehow, perhaps unfairly, like I lost something when the promises these books gave me in their names and descriptions. Just... disappointed. Also narrator should avoid blowing air in the microphone and why does it sound sometimes like the microphone is attached to his lips? I don't need to hear the lips smacking that loud. It sounds like the microphone pops or cuts off sometimes to protect our ears from bad user. His narration itself is not bad, it's quite good, but the microphone use is not great. You might not think it matters, but hearing the narrator breathing in the microphone brings you out of the story.

not the smartest MC and a little too goody-goody

I feel like the MC makes a lot of bad decisions that miraculously workout in the end

Easy listen

I’m never one to turn away from escapism. This book is an easy listen with great performances. I cannot stress how much I enjoy two narrator audiobooks. Isekai for the win

Fluffy series

This book is like comfort food. Nothing too complicated but always look forward to listening. I started this series due to my love of the Arena books by same author. Speaking of book 5 of that series just dropped gotta go download....later.

Not as good as the first one

The characters are barely developed and the author seems to make up for it with lots of mindless action. The male narrator seems to only two modes of speech sly and breathy excited. But there is enough here that I don’t feel like returning it. An will probably get the next one

Good Series

This is a great series but the male narrators over eager annunciation really makes it hard to stay focused on the story at times.

Well written for its genre...

Although well written for its genre, the exuberant narration seemed overdone to the point of distraction from the text. Consequently, listening became a chore somewhere into the first chapter and all chapters after despite the text's creative plot and characters. I struggled to finish it and felt reluctant to continue listening to more in future publications.

Quite entertaining

With a fairly standard story, above average writing, and very good narration, this book is worth a read, although there is one thing a little off putting about it; the sex scenes, I have no problem with sex in books it's just that those parts are written in far more details than any other part of the book I feel I can almost hear the author masturbating as he writes them, and once I had that thought I couldn't shake it, ruining the immersion, I just wish he would put that much effort into the rest of the book, that way it wouldn't seem so jarringly out of place.
But apart from that nit-pick I say I enjoyed the book and will most likely be reading the next one when I have more credits.

Cliché

Boring, boring... Everything was predictable, while that isn't soo bad in itself, it is bad when the protagonist is also the usual boring and spineless guy I found in EVERY similar titles, all authors following the same formula and writing books like a stamping machine.

Slow Burner

I like the premise, what I dislike is that so far its one quest per book it seems so far which isn't bad but it feels like they fill in details to slow the book down to ensure they don't do too much. I like usually main OP but in this particular book the mechanism in building up the main character OP, spoiler it is literally do nothing just he saw something or thinks something and it worked instead of maybe understanding a book cause he's found a few at this point but done nothing with them... it may improve in later books but ill finish here.
