Publisher's summary

Gabriel has taken his first step to become the most powerful mage in the universe, but the path to his ultimate destiny has just begun. The next step to greatness for both he and his ragtag guild lay in their latest contract to recover a powerful magical artifact from across the desert.

Now, he will have to harness new powers over the mind and magic to overcome dragons, gryphons, a fight club full of halflings, and the harebrained ideas of a sweet-but-ditzy alchemist just to reach their goal and the powerful rogue wizard who has it in his clutches.

This novel contains harem elements.

not the smartest MC and a little too goody-goody

I feel like the MC makes a lot of bad decisions that miraculously workout in the end

That sums up my experience with this book. It was interesting and fun, just like the first! I'm getting the entire series. I love this, so who cares what you think!

Fluffy series

This book is like comfort food. Nothing too complicated but always look forward to listening. I started this series due to my love of the Arena books by same author. Speaking of book 5 of that series just dropped gotta go download....later.

More to look forward to

Really enjoying the diversity of characters and the amount of world building that has been shown so far. Never would have thought/considered a Halfling Fight Club before.

really enjoyed the story

I really found the story entertaining. Its relatively light reading but still fun. The narration was done very well, and I was able to stay in the story. The transitions didnt distract you from the story like other dual narrations.

Well written for its genre...

Although well written for its genre, the exuberant narration seemed overdone to the point of distraction from the text. Consequently, listening became a chore somewhere into the first chapter and all chapters after despite the text's creative plot and characters. I struggled to finish it and felt reluctant to continue listening to more in future publications.
