Publisher's summary

More than 3,000 years have passed since the first events recorded in Dune. Only one link survives with those tumultuous times: the grotesque figure of Leto Atreides, son of the prophet Paul Muad'Dib, and now the virtually immortal God Emperor of Dune. He alone understands the future, and he knows with a terrible certainty that the evolution of his race is at an end unless he can breed new qualities into his species.

But to achieve his final victory, Leto Atreides must also bring about his own downfall.

The Golden Path is obvious!

They are doing a great job with the production on these books, The readers are fantastic!
Of course they are the Dune books by Herbert so they are great. This one was as good as the rest.

Great performance.

After I read God Emperor about five years ago, to me, it was one of the most engrossing book I had ever read.

This audiobook does the novel justice. Each of the voice actors match the mood and atmosphere nicely.

My one dislike I have with the audiobook, in my opinion, would have to be the woman narrator. She was great up until she did the voice of Leto. Having the male narrator do all the voices even the women kind of became stale. So allowing a lady to add a touch of feminism sure kept me listening. That being said, the male should have jumped in. Again that is my opinion.

I would definitely recommend this audio to all the fans of the dune novels for sure. Also, to individuals who may of had a hard time reading the novel.

And of course, to those who enjoy audiobooks in general.

My rating comes from my true opinions which I have just expressed.

Love that this is more acted out

This was so easy to listen to. Acted out almost like a radio drama without the antique feel.

Not as good as the others.

The performance was good and engaging but just could not make up for the books shortcomings. Overall the book was slow, had little action, overly focused on sex, and had a lot of screwed up philosophy.

It want all bad though. The closure it gives on Leto's story and his golden path is good and nice to have.

should be required reading at military whacademies

this book expecially, but this entire series is saturated with political and Military wisdom . it is as valuable to me in the philosophical sense, as it is being the most important science fiction epic ever written... in my humble opinion at least.
somebody could actually bass a religion around the ideas proposed in this book.

For the Most Part, Great to Listen to

I really loved Simon Vance, and most of the other voices. The characters, Leto, Moneo, and Duncan are done well, and to hear the book read really makes it easy to enjoy, right down to the layered philosophical arguments. I was able to enjoy Moneo and Leto's back-and-forth this time around, which I never really picked up on before, when I read the book years back.

What I didn't like were the readings of the Stolen Journals. Bleh. The tone seemed nasally, and the performance overcooked. Other than that I really enjoyed this book.

Not bad

The only thing I tired of was the narrator of the "stolen journals" preface to many chapters. Everything else is great!

Was Frank Herbert prophetic?

Any additional comments?

Herbert's abilities to analyze and predict human thoughts and actions in different kinds of government was amazing. It almost was freaky as to the commentary it made on our state of affairs and this was written years ago. Absolutely amazing!

good but not as good as the its predecessors

Leto offers many nuggets of wisdom but the Duncan's are annoying as is Seeonna (Atraities descendant) not alot of action. Good story over all though.
