My parents both left this planet covered in glitter. Death came for each of them right in the middle of what they were working on. As I held and kissed them for the last time, patches of glitter transferred to my hands and face like tiny passed torches. For as much as the grief burned, there was no getting around it—the light that had been on them was now on me.

In the grand scope of things, glitter may not seem like much. But in a way, it’s everything: a responsibility to infinity, to reflect the spark at the heart of it all.

—Robin Brown

The first book to quilt the spirit of a wildly successful international clothing brand among the scraps of childhood trauma, Glitter Saints is the story of Robin Brown, creator of Magnolia Pearl. It’s a mining of tragedy for the kind of magic that creates and sustains—a sharp-eyed, soft-hearted, stubborn hope that’s the rarest raw material.

I fell in love with her whimsical designs and became an avid collector. I now understand every detail, stitch, and hidden treasure of her creative artwork that I call my fashion style. What an incredible gift to understand her story, the other side of love, the alchemy of brokenness, and see a phoenix from the ashes.

Bravo!

I finally get Magnolia Pearl!

A story that’s pulling every heart string that you cannot put the book down, yet you have to close it now and then to see, taste and feel the words. So deep yet Robin found the simplest way to share. So grateful for this brave and beautiful heart. May peace be with you, love.

Love is the answer for everything

This is one of the best survivor stories I've ever read. It's actually one of the best books I've read in a long time, as far as books go. It's written almost poetically, and you feel the sense of constant optimism and inner strength for what she knew she deserved, which was a better life. Her ability to forgive and forgive again and again the abuses of her mother and father at times shows that she was born gifted with a higher calling. It's heart wrenching to read some of the atrocities that were done to her so young, at the hands of those that should have protected her the most. But, her will to survive and help her younger siblings is powerful. It's just a beautiful story. My mother who went through a similar experience as a child, then also turned into an unaccountable abuser herself, playing the victim, while she was victimizing her own children, keeping the brokenness going rather than seeking help and ending the terrible abuse cycle, is a familiar theme with my family of origin. So, this book touched me deeply as I felt some shared pain and understanding of what she went through. I am also an artist, which, is a good and safe place to put trauma and pain to help one heal. I am so happy to know she's risen up and through her art and forgiveness, has been able to live an exceptional life. I absolutely love her clothing!! Beautifully written!! I'd recommend this book to everyone!!

Astounding! First a fan of Magnolia Pearl but now a devotee. I can’t imagine the lack of safety, security & cruelty Robin lived through. This booked rocked my world. Robin is an incredible example of overcoming & letting her light shine no matter what, to bring her gift to the world. She is an example for me for no excuses. Love is the thread that weaves this story together. Now I’ll wear my MP with a sense of a warrior with endless possibilities and hope. Her desire to deepen her relationship with her mother was admirable as was the devotion to her father. She suffered far more than I but presents to us a beautiful path of healing through her storytelling. Bravo.

This book was a heartfelt message from a woman to her parents to the world. A message of forgiveness, and how all the crap from our past leads to the culmination of genuine love and understanding of the imperfectness of being human. The words flow easily and are beautifully narrated. Everyone should hear and understand this message, for we are all Glitter Saints deep within.

you struggle to love in your own heart.”-Robin Brown
A gorgeous heart-opening retelling of a childhood that would’ve irreparably damaged another, but not for Robin- who transform truly heinous personal trespasses into wearable art, and words, for all.

What sets this book apart from any other memoir is the soulful and generous spirit in which it is told. I marveled at Robin’s ability to neutrally and compassionately communicate the tragic failings of her upbringing while also being truthful. I won’t sugar coat it- I thought my childhood was hard but listening to this, my jaw dropped several times. However, I was never trauma triggered. I think this has everything to do with Robin. She is a healer through and through.

I first encountered Robin’s revolutionary and unique energy through her clothing line, Magnolia Pearl. Whimsy, a childlike spirit, radiant joy, wisdom, soulful depth… flew off the hanger and into my heart. I was hooked. I wasn’t surprised to find these exact same qualities in this book.

Thank you, Robin for sharing your story with us. Now when I wear the kitten patches, bunny rabbits, strawberries, patchwork, and unfinished hems on my MP clothing, I have the privilege of knowing you!

Robin Brown's story is hard to hear. Her strength and will to survive is so powerful to me. Not only did she survive, but rose above and beyond. Her creations are an inspiration to me as a seamstress. As we are in the same age range, was not easy to shine with an artistic mind as a woman. Her story has lit a fire in me to create again, create like no one is watching!! Thank you for sharing your soul girl!

Empowering and inspiring, spoke to me!
