From the time he was 13, Keith St. Onge knew what he wanted to do with his life: he wanted to become a World Barefoot Water Ski Champion and open his own ski school in Florida. It was an ambitious dream for a kid from Berlin, New Hampshire - a place where lakes are covered in ice several months out of the year. As the years rolled on, Keith continually fell short of his dream and took second place every time. With every failure came a lesson about life. During one of the lowest moments of his career, a friend gave him a card with an inspirational quote. The card inspired a turnaround in Keith's life. He went on to achieve his dreams and more. The card went on to inspire others to achieve their dreams. In Gliding Soles, Lessons from a Life on Water, Keith shares the wisdom he acquired on his journey to reach the top. For anyone who has a dream, the road of life is filled with twists and turns, but passion will push you above and beyond.

This book is truly one of a kind! It is rare that an athlete of Keith St. Onge’s success can reflect on his career in the level of detail that is found in this book. This is far more than an ordinary biography. Like St. Augustine’s Confessions, there is striking parallels of one bearing their soul along life’s journey. St. Onge takes on the task of analyzing pivotal points in his career on/off the water. In doing so, we travel with him on his ups and downs of an athlete pursuing his dream. Very few biographies with this type of reflection have been written in extreme sports; especially, the sport of waterskiing. This book will allow the reader to bear much fruit after the last page is read and put down. I highly recommend this book for anyone pursuing how to become a champion!

Amazing! A Must Read!

As a barefoot skier for the last 50 years I could definitely relate to much of the book, and it reminded me why I couldn't have reached the level Keith did. The amount of dedication and sacrifice required is beyond what I could have managed. Forget talent/luck/physical ability... being a professional in a physical sport simply requires more focus than most of us have. The book has good insights into coaching and "coachabilty". This would be a good book for a young person to learn to avoid the self-destructive behavior Keith went through. Life can be hard, don't make it harder.

Full of good lessons and insights
