I summon the lightning.

I claim my power.

The warlocks of Icarus Academy claim me.

I start my night as a cat burglar in Singapore and I end up queen of the witching world. Too bad this rags-to-riches fairytale's a gig I never applied for and won't accept. My witchcraft is wild and lethal, so I've renounced my power. I'm a fish out of water at Icarus Academy.

But these four sexy warlocks who rule the school just won't take no for an answer.

They want me to claim my power. They want me to summon the lightning. And they want to claim me as their consort.

Because the witching world is dying, and I'm their last chance. But there's a queen killer on the hunt. Unless I figure out how to claim my power before the killer claims my head, there's a global extinction event looming.

With my name written all over it.

Listen for an intense dark witch academy why choose paranormal romance that delivers teacher-student forbidden love, steamy group interactions, possessive males, sexy shifters, first-time M/M, bi awakening, a lightning witch heroine who doesn't have to choose, and enough heat to set your Academy uniform on fire.

The premise and story were enough to keep me trying to listen for a while, but it became excruciating. The author decided to narrate the story herself - big mistake! The story had several male characters. In trying to come up with distinctive voices for each, the author opted for bizarre accents which made them sound cartoonish. As with any pain that continues without much variation, I was able to muffle my instinctive cringing to some degree. However, every time the author badly mispronounced a word was a sharp jab. It wore me down to the point I couldn't keep listening.
I understand that most of us speak using a fairly limited vocabulary. Avid readers come across and learn words we may never hear spoken. Writing a story about magical dynasties means using a word such as "scion" (the child of a wealthy or influential family), is entirely reasonable, even if it's a word one has never heard aloud. It only takes a couple of seconds to find an online dictionary with an audio recording to learn how to pronounce unfamiliar words. (Hint the "sci" of scion does not sound like the first part of "skirt". Instead, it is "sigh-un"
The story is engaging enough that I may try to finish the story in print.

Should have hired a professional narrator!

The story itself is great, but the narration is horrible. I had to change to a digital copy about 10 chapters in because I couldn't take it anymore. Read the story, but stick to the digital copy.

Horrible Narration

I don't often review books but I have to recommend this one.
This book is a reverse harem with enemies to lover/ bully romance. If you don't like reading about polyamorous relationships with MM themes, then this is not a book for you.
This is a great book with well written polyamorous relationships. In the book there is always some sort of mutual respect for each character of interest, which is why I recommend this book. Often in similar books with a bully trope, the male leads take it too far and insult/ degrade/ hurt the female lead. This book doesn't do that.

A well written Enemies to Lover

I wanted to like this story it had everything I was looking for but I wish the author didn't narrate her own book...the men's voices especially Neo was terrible kept picturing a scrawny tiny guy with the voice that she used for him instead of the buff man he's suppose to be...please stick with the ebook format...

narrator ruined it for me

Laura Navarre has created a scorcher with Gemini Queen. Zara has spent years running away from her heritage when she is pulled back into a world she has tried very hard to leave behind and not only has to grapple with the new title of Queen in Waiting that is thrust upon her not so willingly, but also picks up four handsome warlocks to call her own. With their newly budding relationships to navigate, and a Queen killer on the loose, Zara and her guys must fight to stay alive long enough for her to figure out if she really wants this gig and all it entails. When your harem contains a hot wolf shifter (who is also your professor), a dreamy virgin (on two counts) who is the head of his class, a scorching Adam Driver lookalike, and the Goblin Kings doppelgänger, how can you stay away? Let’s just throw in a couple of bi-awakenings for good measure and this book has everything you could hope for in a Reverse Harem.

Listening to the audio version was actually my second time with this book as I also read the ebook last year, and I would gladly read it again. Having the added bonus of the author herself as the narrator was quite interesting. Especially since it allows you to be 100% certain on the pronunciation of names and words you might not be familiar with. I love that she made it clear which voice belongs to who and was even able to do Ronin’s British accent, but I would have loved to hear the accents of the Europeans in the harem. Even so, I understand she was a sole narrator and not even the best voice actors out there can do every accent in the world. Major props to Laura for taking on this beast herself!
