Publisher's Summary

Humanity needed a hero. It got a karaoke DJ.

Leo MacGavin is not the brightest specimen of humanity, but when he inadvertently rescues a flirty alien heiress, he’s promoted from second-rate lounge entertainer to captain of the galaxy’s most sophisticated cruise ship.

Before he can flee in terror, a human-hating executive gives Leo an ultimatum: complete the vessel’s maiden voyage or mankind’s last colony will be turned into a sewage dump. To make matters worse, a militant cyborg is undermining his authority, a giant spider is terrifying the passengers, and a sentient plant keeps stealing all the beer.

If Leo ever wants to see his home again, he’ll have to keep the guests happy through seven days of onboard antics and madcap shore excursions. As strange malfunctions tear the ship apart, can he hold his rag-tag crew together, or will he flush the last bastion of humanity down the crapper?

The Maiden Voyage is a hilarious sci-fi comedy adventure. It includes a bonus story, "Language Barrier".

Interesting audio book .

I found the story a bit slow at first . After half way through it got better . I’d listen to the rest of the series , if it became available .

Don't "Flava Flav" unless "Chuck D" Is There!

I didn't like the story. I just couldn't connect with the characters. Character development was lacking and the author established the first problem to solve like a novice chess player pulling out his or her queen too soon. To make matters worse, three antagonists who are barely introduced instantaneously are talking about how someone has mishandled their interests again, moreover, their dialog was unfocused and ignored one of the main characters. Checkmate in four moves or the first hour of a nine hour story. I could make out that the bumbling anti-hero would be the captain, but not how he was supposed to carry the audience through an entire saga. This story and the silly captain struck me as very similar to the HBOmax series starring Hugh Laurie. I hope against hope that series wasn't lifted from these books. Worse yet, that this is the very same story and some brilliant scriptwriter polished this turd and got it greenlighted by HBO but failed to slap some sense into the author and make the changes and release the books again. I couldn't sit through one or a pair of audiobooks of this poor quality, but this foul saga is four books to date. There is just no way i can do it. I am not one to give up a story if there is some redeeming qualities. C'mon I have even seen all of the Sharknado movies for Zaphood's sake. For the author allow his P.R. person or team to make the claim, "If you like Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy then you will be just as amused and enthralled by this story." at best is wishful thinking; at worst is an outright lie. I am actually sorry I got the audiobook one for free. The actors and the engineers who made the production were nothing short of professional in their execution of their jobs. This is the author's fault for allowing a P.R, person to give this story that kind of introduction. Comedians say quite often, "Do NOT hype me up before I go on!! You A-hole!!! What if I bomb??? Well, folks this is an example of why you don't act like hype-man extraordinaire Flava Flav without Chuck D waiting to get on the microphone and deliver goods. Don't "Flava Flav unless Chuck D is there!

Laughed My Ass Off

Ok, what kind of book do you expect when the storyline contains a cooperation named WTF ?? This was a rediculous, witty book book I really enjoyed. Deep charactor personalities, funny twists, great narration with different influx per character. I will be reading this whole series.

Boring at best

I can't give it zero stars or I would. Save your time and money, look elsewhere for entertainment. I kept giving it a few more chapters to see if it was just a rough start. It wasn't. This book was so bad that I really do think I could do better. If this can get published, anything can. I understand that there is actually a series. Hey, I can write a series too. Can I get published?

Absolutely ridiculous - I love it!

This book got me some weird looks on the bus, I must have been laughing too loudly.
The book is a great mix of dry British humour and American slapstick.
It's not all laughs though, the plot is quite gripping and by far the best character building i've seen in a while.
