Sixty-two years ago, Nancy Jenkins was found dead in the woods, and her murder went unpunished. Since then, the woods have been a dark place. Some say it’s a serial killer, and others think it’s much more sinister than that.
Amy Woods and her friends don’t take the rumors seriously and set out to seek the truth. Dark secrets are about to be exposed, and Amy faces the terror that awaits her and anyone she loves. The truth about Nancy Jenkins is much closer to home than Amy could ever imagine.
Nothing stays silent forever, not even the dead.

Review:
Jimmy, Edith, Peter, and Brenda all share a horrific secret that is 62 years old and will end in ways that none of them could have foreseen.
On the face of it this is a the story of a ghost that haunts the woods where a young girl met her death. This young girl only wanted friendship and acceptance and instead was bullied, ridiculed, abused and terrorized by 4 people; three of which were willing but uneasy accomplices to a miserable and controlling bully. This young girl was left alone, to freeze to death. She did die, but she never rested.
This is a book that involves so much that is alive and unwell in our culture today. The outsider; the one who is different is isolated and picked on. That person is made to feel they have no value because they don't "fit in", because in essence they are not one of the herd.
This book is about people who lack accountability, or even the willingness to be accountable. This is a book about what could have been prevented if only one of them had been accountable and done what was right, instead of hiding a shameful past out of fear.
This book could be viewed as a cautionary tale. This is something that we need to be aware of, especially when we are young people. Sometimes we can make a decision in the matter of a few hours, minutes, or even moments; that will haunt us the rest of our lives. Those decisions can also affect the lives of those we love who are friends and family members.
Normally I don't like stories about "victims" and this certainly fits that description, but there are deeper lessons here.
Author Kat Green used this book as a vehicle to teach valuable lessons about being responsible for our choices and being accountable for our actions as a result of those choices.
There are consequences of our choices, and we can be fairly certain that if we make negative choices the consequences for those choices will very likely be negative as well.
Narrator Lesley Dessalles once again charmed me with her wonderful voice acting in this audiobook. This is the 2nd book I have listened to that she has narrated and I enjoy her ability to do a range of voices; both male and female genders as well. I was able to keep up with the character voice transitions with no problem.
I look forward to hearing her narrate more in the future.
I think anyone from the ages of 13 and above would enjoy this book/audiobook.
