Kathryn Tucker Windham
Acerca de esta escucha
Exploring the idea that being with and understanding your family is perhaps the most important lesson of all, Ms. Windham takes us out to her front porch in the morning, to the little Methodist church, across the Alabama River, and all the way to Washington, D.C. - then back home to rock and admire the purple martins. The little town of Thomasville, Alabama, blooms on the ridge between the rivers, and it is brought into focus by this truly Southern storyteller.

Kathryn Tucker Windham tells tales of her hometown of Thomasville, Alabama, from the time before WWII. Her Southern accent is REAL - soft, melodious, and easy on the ear. These stories, which some may call quaint, are those of life in most any small town, with its everyday cast of characters and events, and will strike a chord with those who have experienced this lifestyle. Windham's pace is that of a nice, comfortable rock. Occasionally, there are sound effects between the stories that add to the "small-town" atmosphere.

Enjoyable stories for bedtime or rest
Thanks for providing a glimpse into moments of neighborly charm. I like the nature scape sounds interspersed between stories of the author’s life and the folks in her county.

Ms Mary
I wish she has recorded so much more. There is no one out there that I’ve found that tells such wonderful stories

Storytelling at its best
I know these are short but to me, well worth the money. I've purchased all of the available audiobooks by this storyteller, which I think is an apt description. Her stories all center on life down South in an era gone by. Very easy enjoyable listening.

I was fascinated with the southern accent
I am not an American, so the narrator's accent is new and felt like music to the ears. I imagine her sitting on a rocking chair on a front porch, telling stories to her grandkids about the good 'ol days of the South. It made me wish I was able to share a similar moment with my own grandmother when I was a kid.
