How could I not listen

About three years later Mike and Tracy are married and have a son, 2 1\2 year old Travis. “D” lives close by and visits often. Things have been quiet for a while. The calm before the storm.

This series just keeps getting better and better. You got to worry about Mike. He is so nice and friendly but watch out he has a dark side. Paul, his best friend and Leader of the country wants him on a photo shoot. Beth, now Paul’s wife, is still thinks she can seduce Mike. I would really like to ring her neck.
Mark has developed his characters very well. The banter between Mike and D is soooo funny. Just like good friends would kid each other.
Mike and Paul are having problems, mostly because of Beth’s undermining their relationship.

The storm hits and Tracy and Mike are separated. Mike in the hospital, again, and Tracy on the battlefield. One thing leads to another and it looks like the end again. Treachery by the aliens and humans alike. Things go from bad to worse and then even worse. A twist toward the end. Should have seen it coming.

Again for this book I had the audio version. Got to tell you that Sean is fantastic as the narrator . He brings the book to life with his various voices. The whole audio was totally enjoyable. Clear and clean recording without any distractions or static.

If you like aliens, war and comic relief you have got to get this series. Oh, and this is not the last book.

THE BEST ONE YET!!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Indian Hill 4: From The Ashes to be better than the print version?

I only say yes because I Love Sean Runnette!

What did you like best about this story?

The depth of the main characters commitment and loyalty to his family and friends. This series is so different from anything I have ever read. I never know what is going to happen next. I have listened to so many books that I have been able to figure out what was going to happen long before the story was over. I like to be surprised and Mark Tufo isn't afraid of the road less traveled. IH 4 stopped at the perfect moment and I can't wait for IH 5!!!

What about Sean Runnette’s performance did you like?

EVERYTHING!! He is my all time favorite narrator! He was born to be Mike Talbot!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are to many to count. I laughed out loud several times, said NO, NO, NO, and cried several times!

Just keeps getting better!

I thought the first book was too oppressively dark and had to force myself to keep listening to the series. By book two, I was glad I had kept going. It's been classic Mike Talbot ever since and seems to get better with each installment.

This one had me laughing out loud before the end of the first sentence, I think--certainly the first paragraph. There's plenty of action and suspense for those who like it, always balanced by Mike's wit and banter with others.

If you've read a lot of Tufo, you've probably already figured this out, but I'll say it anyway. The various Mike Talbot series' are pretty much mutually exclusive. I had read the available Zombie Fallout books first, and expected this series to be the adventures of young Mike before the zombies. I couldn't have been wronger.

It seems as if Mark Tufo had several completely different adventures that he imagined himself in over the years, and now he has stuck Mike Talbot in his place, (hey, I just noticed they even have the same initials) and is writing them up. I think that is way cool, especially since I have a similar situation inside my own head, but I'm not writing about mine.

Highly recommended!

Amazing Talbot adventure

Where does Indian Hill 4: From The Ashes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right there at the top with the rest of Mark Tufo's books

What was one of the most memorable moments of Indian Hill 4: From The Ashes?

The descriptions of friendship between Mike and his Big Green friend and their banter with one another always gets me.

What about Sean Runnette’s performance did you like?

Sean Runnette has been the voice of Michael Talbot, and many other Mark Tufo books, for so long, I honestly can't imagine anyone else doing it justice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed so hard other people on the road looked over to see what the heck I was doing.

Any additional comments?

Mark Tufo does it again. His continued chronicles of Michael Talbot weave an extraordinary adventure of excitement and trepidation in this, yet another wild ride, which I can not get enough of. Thank you Mark, and please keep writing.

Give me more

Would you listen to Indian Hill 4: From The Ashes again? Why?

I listen to all of Mark's books multiple times and I own ALL of his books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Talbot of course, Mark makes him real not like some other writers where there heroes seem super human.

What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings every character to life in my mind.

Series has started to go downhill

This one got tiring. The banter grew tedious. The sarcasm was bored. There wasn’t much wit left and it felt mechanical. The last book was strong. This one left me wishing it’d end so I can change authors.

This series reminds me of Destroyermen, but that one is better in the later books than this. I could see myself going for book 5 in a year if I were real bored, but it’d have to be in a moment of weakness.

It's called artillary

When his wife makes the statement that Michael Talbot is no stragety genius, she must be referring to the author.

Not a must read, but ok

On book 5 of the Indian Hill series and finding that the prologues are getting longer and longer with each book. I get reminding the reader of what happened in the last book or even a brief summery of all books leading up to this point.. but repeating the same narrative each book then adding a bit extra from the prior book gets a bit old. Almost 29 minutes of the audio book spent listening to exactly the same blah blah blah as you did in the prior book .. yawn.. starting to feel a lot like either Tufo has to remind himself where he left off or is filling space .. either way it really detracts.
All in all Tufo is a genius.. his Zombie Fallout series remains his best work and we have listened to United States of Apocalypse, Callis Rose, Spirit Clearing, Marks Merry Mayhem (would not recommend as it is just excerpts of other books), Timothy 1-3, Zombie Fall Out 0.5-10, Indian Hill 1-5 (6&7 are downloaded), Book of Riley 1-5 (really one book chopped up into several small 4 hour books) .. so even though I am not a huge fan of all his work .. he does make you think, and it isn't always good.. BUT it is the bogey man terrors we all grew up with.. I mean he covers them all. The one saving grace Tufo does have is his smart decision to use Sean Runette as his performer, the man literally could cause interest in the alphabet .. he is remarkable.. in fact not sure that some of the works would have been doable without him. Am I going to stop listening? NO. Tufo is like pizza and sex.. even when it's bad it's still kind of good. : )
