Publisher's summary

In this excerpt from In Bed with Susie Bright, Susie interviews Yale psychologist Paul Bloom about his fascinating best-selling book How Pleasure Works: The New Science of Why We Like What We Like. Paul and Susie talk about the pleasures of sex and how we perceive them.

How Pleasure Works draws on insights from child development, philosophy, neuroscience, and behavioral economics, to show how certain universal habits of the human mind explain what we like and why we like it. Bloom covers everything from the animal instincts of sex and food to the uniquely human taste for art, music, and stories.

Called “the widest read, most reviled and revered sex expert in America” by The San Jose Mercury News, Susie Bright is one of the best-known sex writers in the United States. Susie has teamed up with Audible to bring you her weekly show, In Bed with Susie Bright, available only at Audible.com®.

Interviewer lost the sale

Susie Bright is an absolute twit doing such an interview. She sounds like she was faking insecurity in trying to get a personal response from the Author, or working on a seduction. I am not impressed, as I wanted to hear about him and how he came to create such a book, and definite in not hearing about her or her antics. She comes across vulgar. I did not hear enough from the Author to decide about purchasing his book. Too bad her interview was so poor. The system would not let me enter any response without putting a star above, so I had to enter 1 star....not my choice.

Avoid at all costs

What would have made Free Interview: Susie Bright Speaks with Paul Bloom, Author of How Pleasure Works better?

The interviewer was horrible. I hope she was free as she came off as a completely uneducated wanton. Her use of profanity was sophomoric. Her simile of "incest is like screwing the pooch" was both heartless. I feel sorry for the professor who otherwise probably wrote a very interesting treatise. I recommend he dumps this interview.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Never ever one of Susie Dims interviews.

How could the performance have been better?

If Susie hadn't spoken.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Free Interview: Susie Bright Speaks with Paul Bloom, Author of How Pleasure Works?

Anytime Susie talked.

Any additional comments?

As the first such interview I have listened to on Audible, it leaves a terrible taste in my mouth and makes me believe that any trash can be called "content".

There was nothing about this that I liked

Not only was this not an interview, it didn't seem very related to the topic.
Susie hogged most of the airspace rather than interveiw her interviewee, and seemed very preoccupied with making this all about sex.
Not that there's anything wrong with sex, and I get how sex it very tied to pleasure, but if that's what you 're going to talk about, make the title "How sexual pleasure works".It would be to your advantage as sex is a very well searched topic and would sell more books. :-)
I was expecting more of a Malcolm Gladwell-esque type of commentary. At the end of this I felt more confused and put off than educated.

Trash

I was expecting neuro-biology. I couldn't listen more than ten minutes - the interviewer's lack of taste, gutter vocabulary and general vacancy of any redeeming grace were more than I could stand. One star is too high.

Terrible quality - don't bother

This interview is conducted over a telephone and the interviewee sounds like he's talking in a tunnel. Don't bother downloading this rubbish.

It was free

and would you believe that it still cost to much? Painful ear screeching voice and a guest interviewed over a bad telephone line.

Informational

I listened, then had a few friends listen. If you're looking to understand the woman's body, then this will help. Recommend for both sexes.

Vulgar

What disappointed you about Free Interview: Susie Bright Speaks with Paul Bloom, Author of How Pleasure Works?

Much too vulgar for my taste. I thought it was going to be a lot more educational and a lot less crude than it was.
