Spokane, Washington, is nearly perfect for most people, but Jack Fitzpatrick is not one of them. Hours after graduation and armed with his final paycheck from his nemesis, Jack heads for Southern California. Dreams are a dime a dozen in the City of Angels. Broke, barely scraping by, and hating his life as a temp, L.A. is definitely not what Jack expected. But after reading "Best Paying Jobs of 1987" in Time magazine, he decides to go after the only one he thinks he has a shot at: institutional bond broker. Once frustrated that his dazzling lack of experience keeps getting in the way, Jack is ecstatic to land a job at Freedom Capital, a no-name firm with a hire-anybody mentality. Pumped to be on his way to his first few million, Jack eagerly engages in the challenged ethics of his new employer. When a series of innocent events lands him in prison, he's sure things can't get any worse. He would be wrong.

One Cool Freak!

Hilarious story of one driven soul determined to make it happen - even if it takes a lot of crazy routes to get there.
This could easily be a Netflix series.

LOL Young man's foray into his first job!

If you could sum up Freaks I've Met in three words, what would they be?

Hilarious first person account of a young man from the Pacific NW who is determined to prove to his awful neighbor lady that he is a force to be recokoned with.

What did you like best about this story?

Narrator was spot on perfect, echoing stereotypes of modern America.

Which scene was your favorite?

the white couch, or the sticker bush at the river.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was not what I expected, but truly loved.

easy to listen too. good humor. a little too much body fluid/function refrences. not worth listening to twice.

Great narration by the author, soothing fun voice, who of course knew exactly what to emphasize and how to say it!

What a fabulous story about LIFE, making a living, LOVE and friendship and never let the freaks you meet get you down! DONALD JANS is a genius and love his fun narration!!!! Read the book and so enjoyed the audio version as well! I also love that I could listen whether I had only a few minutes or more time and was able to get right into the story. HIGHLY recommend!!

Archetypal romps of an 80's kid

Fun coming of age, for adults only. Somehow through all the debauchery there is an undeniably sweetness. Not what I expected from this book.
