A little too much, terrible language

These are fun books, always a little over-the-top, but Zero is a spy hero, so it's okay. It's also great that Maya is now holding her own and working hard. But to make Maya in charge at such a young age? I'm not feeling it. You can be awesome and train like crazy, but nothing is going to make up for experience. Nobody is going to put someone so young in charge of stopping nuclear meltdowns, or whatever.
Also, I feel like half of the book was spent on Zero and Maya being petty with each other. It was a little cringe. Maybe, after 15 books, it's time to do a series on Misha, who's super fun.
In the last couple of books, the language has gotten worse and worse. Lots of taking Lord's name in vain, f-bomb, etc.

Too much father daughter negative dialogue

which was not necessary and spoiled the story -I quit at chapter 9

Dysfunctional family squabbles is an awful premise.

Zero has tears in his eyes? what happened to Jack Mars! Zero has gone soft or melancholy.

Seriously unprofessional

This whole "Swiss Family Robinson" spy club is the least professional group of agents in the genre. They are practically paralyzed by their emotions and perpetually distracted by petty ego issues. I thought President Trump was insecure and capricious. But Maya gives him a run for the money.

Maya wants to be respected as a competent leader but she acts like she's suffering from chronic PMS. Todd stupidly puts her in charge over a more experienced agent, Agent Zero, as a proof of her ability. Compounding that mistake, Maya obviously has Daddy issues and reacts childishly to every imagined slight. Daddy obliges by being condescending and overprotective.

The author is clearly in love with left wing conspiracies between government law enforcement and industrial interests. Also, he clearly has no military or field experience.

if you like operators who bring their fists to a gunfight by allowing themselves to be disarmed instead of shooting, who have terrible field craft and make rash decisions--if you can stand the intra-familial ego-driven soap opera and the over-dramatisation of the narrator, you might enjoy the story.
