Story
Beginning with the story of Stephen from the book of Acts, considered the first Christian martyr, the drama builds to the passion of the early Church's persecution under the Roman Empire. The hardy and radical faith of those first believers spawned medieval missionary movements that spread the gospel across Europe and into England, Scotland, and Ireland. As the story continues, it places a significant emphasis on the sufferings of the early Protestants during the Reformation.

Story
For 300 years, The Pilgrim's Progress has remained perhaps the best-loved and most read of devotional fictions. In plain yet powerful and moving language, Bunyan tells the story of Christian's struggle to attain salvation and the Gates of Heaven. He must pass through the Slough of Despond, ward off the temptations of Vanity Fair, and fight the monstrous Apollyon. In Part II, his wife and children follow the same path, helped and protected by Great-heart, until for them, too, "the trumpets sound on the other side."

What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace."

Story
On February 29, 1948, Richard Wurmbrand was arrested by the secret police. His crimes? Leading Christian worship and witnessing - both of which were illegal under the atheistic Communist regime of Romania. Richard spent 14 years in prison. He was tortured, beaten, and locked into a solitary confinement cell. Sabina Wurmbrand spent three years in a labor camp, nearly freezing to death as she and other prisoners worked on the Danube Canal. She was repeatedly told her husband had died behind bars. Now, for the first time, both sides of this amazing story are told in one audiobook.

Story
This no-compromise biblical clarion call to revival is timeless. Leonard Ravenhill clearly shows how the church can be brought from where it is to where it ought to be. The church still needs his message, first published in 1983, for as Ravenhill said, "We live in a generation which has never known revival God's way." The message is drastic, fearless, and often radical. His goal for the church is nothing less than full restoration to the glory, power, holiness, and dignity that Christ intended for it.

Story
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In the first major biography of Bonhoeffer in 40 years, New York Times best-selling author Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life - the theologian and the spy - to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

Story
Throughout the Bible, followers of Jesus are commanded to submit to Him as their King. They are told to obey and follow, faithfully and without hesitation. Every time Christians utter the word Lord, they make a subtle yet profound declaration - that God is their Master and that they belong to Him. In fact, the Bible describes believers as His slaves. They have been bought with a price and now live for Christ as a people for His own possession. But go into most churches today, even flip through most Bible translations, and you won’t see or hear the word slave anywhere.

Story
A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

Story
Pneumatology refers to the study of the Holy Spirit in light of the Bible. It is an area many parts of the body of Christ have overlooked, which has truly hindered our spiritual growth and the advancement of God's kingdom in the earth today. John G. Lake walked with the Holy Spirit and sought after him ever so carefully. He was a man of study and wanted to know how God healed the sick and how Christ worked through man by the Spirit's involvement.

Publisher's Summary
Would you suffer persecution, poverty, and prison for Christ?
Would you endure cruel tortures that take your mind and body to the brink of death and beyond?
Would you watch your children suffering for their faith and urge them to remain faithful to Christ?
Would you endure inhuman tortures and "hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering" (Hebrews 10:23)?
Would you stand boldly and without shame and confess Christ as your Lord, to your own and to your family's peril?
Two thousand years of martyrs.
For nearly 2000 years, courageous men and women have been tortured and killed because of their confessions of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs tells their stories. Stories of heroic courage and overcoming faith. Stories of love of God and Christ. Stories of the amazing grace of God that enabled men, women, and children to endure persecutions and often horrible deaths.
Foxe's last revision in 1570.
Foxe's last revision of his Book of Martyrs was in 1570. In the 18th century others added to his book. But Christians have continued to be persecuted and martyred every year since then. More Christians were martyred in this century alone than in all the past centuries combined.
The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs tells their stories from A.D. 37 to 1997 in modern English, and includes new historical data that clarifies and harmonizes people, places, and times.
The New Foxe's Book of Martyrs is the most up–to–date version of Foxe's book ever published. It is essential listening for the study of Christian persecution in Foxe's day and in ours.

Not what I was expecting.
I was more interested in the original work that this is based on. This author gets carried away with his own beliefs when adding to the original work. There are notable Christian martyrs that should be discussed if extending the original work into the current century. Overall I thought the reader did well, but the authors bias about historical figures turned me off from this book.

So good!
I can honestly say that i have learned that i never knew true faith before reading this book. I truly believe every Christian should read this book at least once in their life.
There are moments when it gets difficult to read this book as the stories are very gruesome and sad so i suggest reading this book little by little to not get so overwhelmed.
Overall i wish i could give this book over 5 stars because it is that good! You will not only learn of the people who died for their faith but you will also learn so much history of Christianity, which i also found to be super inspiring.

Every true Christian should read!
Many of the atrocities that the early church went through have been long forgotten and many christians these days hail themselves as christians, but I fear these followers would not have the faith and endurance that these steadfast believers had before them. I feel it is a tragedy that many christians do not know what their forefathers of their faith went through just so they could read the word of God and know that they can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I feel this should be necessary reading for every Christian so they will to know what these men and women did for their faith and for their future generations. I also believe this book is necessary to help encourage us as well. We see persecution increasing against christians in this day and time and I know that we will once again see christians being martyred for their faith especially in America and the church needs to be prepared for that. At this very moment, I feel is very in adequately prepared to deal with such horrors.

Sadly I have not been able to find another place
Sadly I have not found another place to buy this book in MP3 format - because I won't be sticking around on this bullshit platform needing to pay for monthly and paying for license for books which you can't even easy transfer around to the hardware you have. This is nonsense and utter diabolical and I won't have anything to do with craziness like this.
Sadly not been able to find it any other place for download in MP3... I have 3 versions of Foxes Books of Martyr which version with the woman seems the best which is unedited I think. You can get that in MP3 format in another place then audible.
So I'm hanging on to audible as I have 2 books I can't get out of the platfrom - but when I'm done - I'm done with the platform overall.

A Must Read (listen)
An amazing book full of truly amazing stories of unbelievable faith. Despite the depressing content of the horrid things that has happened to so many Christians over the years, it is still quite uplifting to hear their unbreakable faith and often forgiveness for those who afflicted them.
