Torn

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book although it was not what I was expecting. It is short so it does jump straight in, forgive the corny joke. It is an interesting take on the reverse harem type book.

Four of a Kind is an Erotic Romance short story involving three guys, Blake, Preston and Conrad and a woman named Leah. The story follows these people through the years and tells the reader how they met and got together. I found the story likable enough but there were numerous things that I feel were screwy or missing so I'm rating Four of a Kind at just below average.

The biggest problem I have with this story is the way it's set up. There are scenes written in both the first and third person. Plus the whole following the characters through the years thing would have been a lot easier to understand if there was something in the text about it. You get that info from the blurb only. The passing years are never mentioned. The scenes just jump around in time and POV. The only way you know that years have passed is because in one scene Leah & Blake are in college, in another scene Blake's now an intern and in another scene Leah is working at a "grown-up job". All the author had to do was write present, 10 years ago, or however many years ago at the scene changes. Another thing that irked me was that the connections between the characters were extremely minimal and totally unbelievable IMO.

On the positive side of things Michelle Jones did an excellent job with the narration. I had no issue getting used to her style and she did pretty good with the acting. I was mostly impressed with the way she was able to portray each character as separate beings with more than just a voice change. Each character had their own speech pattern and tone. My only complaint is that she forgot to switch up her voice/tone/accent a few times.

hot

This is a well written short novella that is steamy. The narration wasn't horrible but with 3 different male pov's it would have been better had the narrator been male.

Quick but Good

How do 1woman and 3 men become a family. This book does an amazing job of making it feel normal.
Hot right from the start. Standalone with no cliffhangers.

Quick book-good

Good book. Short if you don’t have a lot of time. Good funny story. Will tell a friend about it.

just ok.

ok so the story really didn't have any body, and I think the vocal actor tried a bit to hard to make it better. So 3.5 stars. and way to short.

I enjoyed this!

I really enjoyed this book. I listened to it twice back to back. I learned some new terminology in this book. The characters are different and interesting but all fit together. This book had lots of heat. The narration was great and I recommend this book.
