Publisher's summary

Carol, the local mortician in her 40s, and her best wine-guzzling gal pal are in shock when they discover that their close friend, Drew Bartlett, is brutally murdered and found in the seaweed on Galveston Island, Texas. They think they knew him well after all the crab boils they shared, but when they host a party in his memory for their fellow condo dwellers, an uninvited guest appears who changes the two women’s lives forever. This is because the heavily pregnant and broken woman has nowhere to turn but to the judgmental Carol and open-minded Martha.

This novel was a finalist for the 2022 Killer Nashville Claymore Award for Best Mystery.

A sad story

This story took some unexpected turns, and characters made some poor decisions. Good vs evil. Barbara Hensley gave a sensitive performance as the main character Carol.

Enjoyed The Story, But The Performance Nails It

I must emphasize how great the narration is. The narrator really gave this great, but otherwise depressing story a wonderful amount of life and every performance felt extremely genuine. Every character felt alive and everyone really played off of each other very well. That said, I throughly enjoyed the story, but it was the performance that really nailed it. I will say that as thrilling as the plot is, without giving spoilers, the book is a bit of a downer. If one craves a good murder mystery, then this book should suffice.

Found in the Seaweed

This book was not really a mystery. I struggled to finish it because the title and only part of the blurb played a part. The narrator was phenomenal, but even she couldn't save this story for me. This is my honest, unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own free will.

Good story, entertaining

This story took a lot of turns. Some for the good, some for the bad. Narration was good. Story could have been a bit more intriguing, but overall, I did enjoy the book.

More of a domestic story

Found in the Seaweed by Meredith Watson is a rollercoaster of bad choices. It was hard to get through for me because I felt everyone was either naive or a psychopath. It was a very sad story but I don’t feel it is a mystery nor is Carol a sleuth. The narration by Barbara Henslee was good. I received. Free audiobook code for my honest review.

different and complex

This was not what I expected at all. The ending left me sad and ambivalent with some of Carol's life choices. Some people got 2nd and 3rd chances while others got none. I don't think anyone was a winner in this sad tale except maybe the children were saved from danger. I'm still processing it all. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a good job.
