Truthful

I'm a Trans Woman. I had some difficulty in the early part of the book due to No.s word choices and attitude. I'm glad I kept listening because I come from a family that struggles with my gender identity. This book gave me insight from the perspective of a skeptical of non understanding Caregivers. I was able to make a call to someone who struggles and start an unlocking conversation. It also helped me understand the view of my journey from my families eyes. I'm able to start the process of letting the why go.

I appreciate the writers truthfulness which was cleansing for me with my not so distant past.

Paris Hassouri is an asset for our community and her daughter is wonderful, strong, courageous and Beautiful.

As a mom of a transgender daughter, this story couldn’t have been more parallel to her story and the struggles my husband and other daughter are having towards her transformation. I am so grateful for this book was suggested to me and have since suggested it to many counselors. Honest, brave, touching and deep story on motherhood, acceptance of life, choices, transforms and growth. Needed book, as it sheds light on the transgender experience, which many of us may not experience in any way. Stories change the world and allows us to step into the shoes of others. such an eye opener. made some amazing points and really helped me through my child's transition.

Beautifully written and read

I had to write a review after I read one review that complained that this story did not tell the child’s point of view and what she went through. I chose this book not because I have any experience with the trans community. I do not know anyone or have a child that is trans. But I am a mother that is always interested in other parents stories. This book is presented as a mother’s story and that is exactly what it is. The author does an amazing job of telling the families journey. I sympathize, just as any mother would do with her child going through anything. But now I have a whole new respect for anyone that is in the trans community and what they are going through. I am grateful that this world is starting to except this as a real truth. Ava is a very lucky girl.

I could relate to every feeling that she so perfectly captures with her gift of storytelling. Paria gives hope that there is light not only at the end of this journey, but in the moments when you can stop, breathe, and take in the gifts that are right before your eyes for the entire family.

Moving, enlightening and relatable

As I read through this book, I could relate to the author through every step of her journey with her trans daughter. I am going through the same process and found her writing trip be relatable and comforting. An easy read that I couldn’t put down until I finished! A must read for anyone who has a transgender child.
