He said

The narrator used he said she said after every statement, drove me nuts. Story was good though.

Psychological thriller

I read the kindle version of this book in June of 2019. I got the audiobook free from the author and listened to it. It was well done with changes to the voice for the different characters. I did hear a few words pronounced incorrectly. When Kevin is learning to fillet the fish, it is pronounced “fill it”. I must admit that I did not remember who the stalker was from my previous read. Over all an interesting audiobook. Kept me entertained.

Terrible Narrator

The single worst performance I've ever heard. The book wasnt that great either. Really juvenile writing. Dave your credit. Find something better. And save yourself from having to listen to this. You'll thank me.

Not a fan, hard to get into and sorry I held out for the end

It wasn’t necessarily predictable, but an overall twisted and not in a “good read” way. I wish I hadn’t held on for the end, it was disappointing at best.

Don’t listen to this one!

This story was decent, but the narration is horrible! This is the worst audiobook (performance-wise) I have listened to. The narrator sounds like a robot, has odd inflection, and mispronounces words a child would know how to pronounce. If you’re going to read this one, get it hard copy form, because the narrator ruined this book for me. Painful!

Could have been so much better

The story was pretty good, although the writing was only mediocre. What really killed it was the narrator. This was the worst performance of any book I’ve listened to! I’m not sure if it was actually a real person reading! The tone, intonation, and tempo are off. Even some easy words were mispronounced. It was really a struggle to get through. This is a book that is much better read than listened to. Disappointing.

Terrible narration. Sounds like a robot!

Great story! Well told. I just wish they had a better narrator, kinda ruins the whole experience.

Terrible Narrator

Omg! We tried so hard to get into this book. We waited til the 7th chapter before we just couldn't bear it anymore. The narration was so bad. She didn't know where to put the "he said, she said.....etc. Very annoying.

I'd read the books, but this narrator isn't for me

I enjoyed the story once I'd decided to persevere with the narration. Decent enough mystery that held the interest. However, unfortunately this narrator is really not for me. I would go so far as possibly avoiding books she read if her style doesn't improve. She was very stilted and robotic with very weird places that she paused with emphasis on completely the incorrect parts of a sentence, a reading example " ..and cracked him as I could ( Tense ,LONG PAUSE as if it was the end of the sentence, breath). .. In the skull.. With it.". I'm sorry, but it irritated and was jarring to listen to occasionally.
I'm glad to see book 2 is a different narrator.

Ok

Reader sounded like a robot at times and paused at unnecessary times too, but I enjoyed the story

fan blooming tastic

I honestly loved this audiobook and couldn't put it down, I agree there's a lot of "he said, she said" and it did annoy me to start with but I got over it and thoroughly enjoyed it xxxxxxxx

Enjoyable Listen.

I really enjoyed listening to this book, yes, i can agree with other reviewers that He said, she replied was used far too much in the narrative but in my opinion the quality of the story and narration compensated for this. The characters were good and well developed from Kevin the 8 year old boy through his mum Amanda and her parents. Claire the narrator was good at giving each character their own unique voices and this made the a sometimes complex story easy to follow. The ending of the story has a pretty good twist and I never saw that ending coming. I am now looking forward to moving on to listening to book 2 in the series.
I was given this copy of the book and have left this honest and voluntary review.
