You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits. There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it's windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He's the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He's pretty much irresistible.

Travis Coates has a good head…on someone else’s shoulders. A touching, hilarious, and wholly original coming-of-age story from John Corey Whaley, author of the Printz and Morris Award-winning Where Things Come Back. Listen - Travis Coates was alive once and then he wasn’t. Now he’s alive again. Simple as that. The in-between part is still a little fuzzy, but Travis can tell you that, at some point or another, his head got chopped off and shoved into a freezer in Denver, Colorado. Five years later, it was reattached to some other guy’s body, and well, here he is.

Publisher's Summary
When Carolina and Trevor meet on their first day of school, something draws them to each other. They gradually share first kisses, first touches, first everythings. When they're together, nothing else matters. But one of them will make a choice, and the other a mistake, that will break what they thought was unbreakable. Both will wish they could fall in love again for the first time - but first love, by definition, can't happen twice.
Told in Carolina's and Trevor's alternating voices, this is an up-close-and-personal story of two teenagers falling in love for the first time...and discovering it might not last forever.

Glad it was free
This book is definitely NOT what I was thinking it was. It was a lot of nonsense with music playing in the background, which I didn’t really get. The love story — if that’s what you’d call it — is a whole lot of “I love you”s without any kind of substance. On the other hand, that may have been the point to show how immature young love is, but when I went through my experience of young love, it was built on more that what is shown in this book lol.

So real
I really liked this book! The characters are pretty young and silly but I loved it. Based on my life when I was younger, a lot of things were sooo dramatic and confusing; every relationship was supposed to be forever, and my best friends at that time were supposed to be forever, but things change, people change and eventually we move on.
I liked how genuine the interactions were and how the characters always stayed true to their personalities and views on life, sure things definitely changed but it felt like the characters were very consistent and realistic. I saw reviews on some other platforms for this book saying there was too much sex and how Carolina said “gosh” too much but likeeee, it was SO real! I already know everyone doesn’t have the same experience but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to shame others for what they have gone through. I think the sexual encounters were true to how nerve racking and wild they really are. I liked that there was a lot of the sexual type stuff because I do enjoy some erotica but this book is very light, relatable and makes you smile at the cute moments the couple has. In all reality when you love someone and are just about obsessed with them, especially when you’re young, of course you’d have sex a lot if you’ve decided to do those things together. Love isn’t all about sex obviously but it is about exploring each other, learning about each other and how to love each other better.
Overall I thought this book was super cute and although I normally prefer characters in my age group, this just brought me back to being a clueless sometimes care free kid. Sure life was awful at times but without my past experiences, good and bad I wouldn’t be where i’m at today.
Thank you for this awesome and totally relatable story!!

smiled the whole way through
this is a slightly exaggerated yet realistic depiction of a teens first love. the author does an amazing job at portraying youth through their internal dialogue and i can confidently say that i don't think i'll ever come across another coming-of-age or YA romance that is so honest and authentic. plus the narrating cast make this an enjoyable listen.

His classmates may consider him a nerd, but Benedict Pendleton knows he's destined for great things. All he has to do is find a worthy girlfriend, and his social station will be secured. Sure, Benedict is different - but that's what he likes about himself. Pen Lupo is sick and tired of hiding who she is. On the outside Pen is popular, quiet, and deferential to her boyfriend. On the inside, however, Pen is honest, opinionated - and not sure that she's quite like other girls.

Story
Waverly Lyons has been caught in the middle of her parents’ divorce for as long as she can remember. This summer, the battle rages over who she’ll spend her vacation with, and when Waverly’s options are shot down, it’s bye-bye Fairbanks, Alaska, and hello Holden, Florida, to stay with her aunt. Coming from the tundra of the north, the beach culture isn’t exactly Waverly’s forte. The sun may just be her mortal enemy, and her vibe is decidedly not chill. To top it off? Her ability to swim is nonexistent.
